Hyundai India Records Highest-Ever Monthly Sales in July 2026; Domestic Sales Jump 23% to 54,210 Units

Hyundai Motor India bounced back strongly in July 2026, recording its highest-ever monthly total sales of 75,360 units. Domestic dispatches surged 23.3% year-on-year to 54,210 units, while exports jumped 31.4% to 21,150 units. The Creta and i20 also recorded their best monthly volumes of CY2026.
Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) has started the second quarter of FY2026-27 on a strong note, reporting a sharp recovery in volumes during July 2026. The automaker dispatched 54,210 units in the domestic market, registering a 23.3% year-on-year growth compared with 43,958 units sold during July 2025.
The bigger milestone, however, came from Hyundai's combined domestic and export performance. Total sales reached an all-time monthly high of 75,360 units, representing a 25.4% YoY increase.

July's performance is particularly significant considering the production challenges Hyundai faced just a month earlier.
Massive Recovery From June 2026
Hyundai's July numbers represent a sharp sequential recovery following the production disruption experienced in June. In June 2026, Hyundai's domestic dispatches had dropped to 39,635 units, while total sales stood at 51,335 units. Production during the month was affected by a fire incident at one of Hyundai's suppliers, resulting in an estimated production loss of around 13,900 vehicles.
Hyundai subsequently arranged parts from alternative sources, with normal production operations restored across its facilities from June 22. Against that backdrop, July's domestic sales of 54,210 units represent an increase of roughly 37% month-on-month, while total volumes jumped nearly 47% over June 2026.
The rebound indicates that Hyundai has been able to rapidly restore production and begin recovering some of the volumes lost during the previous month.
Hyundai Creta Hits CY2026 Monthly High
The Hyundai Creta remained one of the biggest contributors to the company's performance. Hyundai dispatched 18,088 units of the Creta in July 2026, its highest monthly volume so far in calendar year 2026.
Creta alone accounted for roughly one-third of Hyundai's domestic passenger vehicle sales during the month, once again demonstrating the importance of the midsize SUV to Hyundai's India portfolio. The strong performance also comes amid increasingly intense competition in the midsize SUV market, making Creta's continued volume strength particularly noteworthy.
Hyundai i20 Records Best Month of 2026
It wasn't only Hyundai's SUVs driving growth.
The Hyundai i20 recorded sales of 6,738 units in July, marking its highest monthly sales figure of CY2026. The performance is significant considering the structural shift in India's passenger vehicle market towards SUVs. Stronger i20 volumes suggest that Hyundai continues to retain a meaningful presence in the premium hatchback segment despite changing consumer preferences.
Exports Surge 31%
Exports were another major highlight for Hyundai during July.
HMIL exported 21,150 vehicles, registering a strong 31.4% YoY growth.
More importantly, this was Hyundai India's highest monthly export volume in more than 100 months.
Exports accounted for approximately 28% of Hyundai's total July volumes, highlighting India's growing role as an important production and export hub within Hyundai's global operations. The combination of improving domestic demand and stronger exports helped Hyundai achieve its highest-ever monthly sales since the company's inception in India.

What This Means for Hyundai
July's performance is an important turnaround for Hyundai following the supply-side disruption witnessed in June. The recovery to more than 54,000 domestic units shows that the sharp June decline was largely production-related rather than necessarily indicative of weakening underlying demand.
More importantly, Hyundai appears to be seeing strength across multiple parts of its portfolio. Creta continues to anchor the company's SUV volumes, while the strong performance of the i20 provides additional support outside the SUV segment.
Exports are emerging as another important growth engine. With overseas dispatches growing faster than domestic sales during July, Hyundai's Indian manufacturing operations are increasingly serving both the domestic and international markets.

The company has not only recovered from June's production disruption but has returned with its highest-ever overall monthly volume. The 37% month-on-month rebound in domestic dispatches, coupled with record total volumes and the strongest export performance in more than eight years, makes July a particularly significant month for Hyundai.
Creta remains Hyundai's biggest volume pillar, contributing roughly one in every three domestic units, while the i20's CY2026 high shows that Hyundai still has considerable strength beyond SUVs.
The key question now is whether Hyundai can sustain domestic volumes above the 50,000-unit mark over the coming months. If production remains stable and demand momentum continues, July's performance could mark the beginning of a considerably stronger Q2 FY2026-27 for the Korean automaker.
