The Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.’s Farm Equipment Sector’s officials are in search of a huge expansion of the lands for manufacturing new tractor plants under the brand name Swaraj.
They are in conversations with a lot of states. With the increasing demands of the tractors, want to put additional capacities.
M&M is one of the largest shareholders in the tractor segment i.e., holding over 40% market share is looking into the state of Punjab. It is a holder of three manufacturing units and has an R&D centre for Swaraj-branded tractors, all in Punjab, and has an annual production of 120,000 units.
With the rising demands for its tractors due to increasing post-pandemic demands in the domestic markets, the company has been sedulous to meet the demands. Strong rural growth, healthy reservoir conditions, and high price realization of crops have played an important role in the increasing demands.
The President of the Farm Equipment Sector of M&M, Hemant Sikka, told about the ratio of tractors from the export market to the domestic market. He also pointed out CNG’s coexistence with diesel use in tractors.
