Renault sold 8,805 cars in the Indian market in September 2020. Kwid overtook Triber as the best selling Renault and grew a record 51% YoY. The demand for entry level hatchbacks is on the rise since Covid-19 and is clearly visible from the sales trend.
Renault’s Triber was the star kid of 2019 and was also one of the most successful launches of last year. However; post Covid the numbers for the model has decelerated and it projected a -12% decline YoY in Sep’20. It is difficult to understand on the reasons why the volumes for the model is falling down when the segment leader (Ertiga) sales is still growing rapidly. Renault should not let volumes to drop even further and got to pick it up to sustain overall numbers this year.
Even though Renault recently launched the 154 Bhp Duster Turbo; the volumes fell -76%! Touted as the most powerful car in the segment; Duster Turbo was expected to elevate the volumes for the model. However; we understand that it couldn’t fare as expected due to supply constraints.
