Two Wheeler Exports Statistics – April to December 2020

Around 21,72,015 two wheelers were exported from India in April – December 2020. Bajaj Auto continued its dominance in exports and recorded ~57% Market Share!

  1. Overall Two Wheeler exports saw a dip of -19.1% YoY and over 21.7 Lakh Two Wheelers were exported from India.

  2. Bajaj continued to dominate the exports volumes from India and over 12 Lakh units were shipped in the first 9 months of FY2021. It also registered the highest Market Share gain in the said period.

  3. TVS closely followed Bajaj’s footsteps and strengthened its export base during the pandemic. It recorded the lowest YoY fall in exports volumes and cross 22% Market Share in Apr-Dec’20 timeframe.

  4. Bajaj + TVS now controls near to 80% of Two Wheeler Exports from India. The duo has clear lead when compared to other players and are going strong.

  5. Honda was a distant third and was able to export just 1.4 Lakh units in Apr-Dec’20. It also had one of the highest YoY drops in terms of exports this year.


  1. The Top 10 exported models contributed near to 68% of the overall two wheeler exports.

  2. Do note that not a single scooter fares in the list of Top 10 exported Two Wheelers! Also 100cc bikes dominate the export volumes from India (Boxer & Star City).

  3. It is also interesting to see that neither Hero nor Honda has a model in the Top 10 list! Bajaj has lions share here with 6 models in Top 10, followed by TVS with 3 models and Yamaha with 1 model.

  4. Bajaj’s Boxer & Star City were the clear favorites and significant volumes are being exported every month. Surprisingly both these models don’t sell that well in the Indian market!
