Chinese Car Brands Capture Nearly 63% of Home Market in Jan–Aug 2026; BYD Leads Individual Brands
Chinese automakers strengthened their grip on the world’s largest car market, capturing 62.67% of China’s passenger-car retail market during January–August 2026. BYD led individual brands with 9.77%, followed by Volkswagen at 7.17% and Toyota at 7.00%.
