The Supreme Court has pushed for longer mandatory third-party insurance for new vehicles, potentially increasing coverage to four years for cars and six years for two-wheelers. It has also proposed automatic challans and a ‘No Insurance, No Fuel’ pilot to tackle India’s massive uninsured vehicle population.
