India’s new EV localisation requirements have taken effect from September 1, 2026, bringing stricter domestic manufacturing norms for traction motors used in electric buses and trucks under PM E-DRIVE.

The government has extended PM E-DRIVE incentives for electric two-wheelers till March 31, 2028. The e-2W allocation has increased to ₹2,767 crore, covering up to 45.79 lakh vehicles while retaining a maximum incentive of ₹5,000 per eligible electric two-wheeler.
