2026 Mercedes-Maybach S-Class India Launch Confirmed for October 5
Mercedes-Benz will launch the updated Mercedes-Maybach S-Class in India on October 5, 2026. Its India debut comes just over six months after the ultra-luxury sedan was unveiled globally in March.
The facelift brings a more imposing exterior, a comprehensively upgraded digital cockpit, greater personalisation and revised powertrain options. Mercedes-Benz has not yet confirmed which variants will be offered in India.
Bolder Maybach-Specific Design
The new Mercedes-Maybach S-Class retains its stately proportions but introduces several distinctive design updates.
The grille is now around 20 percent larger and features illumination, signature vertical slats and an illuminated Maybach wordmark. An illuminated Mercedes three-pointed star sits above it on the bonnet.
Other exterior highlights include:
Larger Digital Light headlamps with three-pointed-star DRLs
Maybach-logo pattern across the lower air intakes
Illuminated Maybach emblem on the D-pillar
Star-shaped LED elements in the tail-lamps
New 20-inch and 21-inch forged alloy wheels
Self-levelling wheel-centre logos that remain upright
Expanded MANUFAKTUR paint and two-tone colour options
The Maybach continues to be 180mm longer than the long-wheelbase S-Class, allowing it to offer a more spacious rear compartment.
Superscreen and New Digital Architecture
The dashboard receives Mercedes-Benz’s latest Superscreen arrangement, comprising:
12.3-inch digital instrument cluster
14.4-inch central touchscreen
12.3-inch front-passenger display
The sedan’s new electronic architecture uses four high-performance computers to manage its infotainment, assistance systems, safety functions and driving dynamics.
Mercedes has also introduced a Maybach-specific interface with rose-gold graphics. Its conversational digital assistant integrates multiple artificial-intelligence services to offer more natural voice interaction.
Rear-Seat Luxury Remains the Priority
The rear seats can recline by up to 43 degrees, compared with 38 degrees in the regular S-Class. Heating, ventilation and massage functions are available, while two smartphone-style remote controls replace the earlier tablet-based controller.
Buyers will be able to specify more extensive leather trim, including upholstery around the lower cabin and footwells. New interior colours will also be offered.
For the first time in a Mercedes-Maybach, customers will have the option of a specially designed leather-free, vegan interior.
Updated V8 and Plug-in Hybrid Options
Internationally, the Maybach S 580 uses an upgraded 4.0-litre, twin-turbocharged V8 engine with a flat-plane crankshaft. It produces 537hp and 750Nm.
The Maybach S 580e plug-in hybrid combines a 3.0-litre inline-six petrol engine with a 163hp electric motor and a 22kWh battery. Its combined output stands at 585hp and 750Nm, while the claimed electric-only range is up to 98km.
Selected markets also receive a more powerful S 680. Depending on the country, this variant is powered either by a 6.0-litre twin-turbo V12 producing 630hp and 900Nm or a 612hp version of the 4.0-litre V8.
Mercedes-Benz has yet to disclose the final India-spec powertrain and variant line-up.
Expected Price and Local Assembly
The outgoing Mercedes-Maybach S 580 is currently listed at approximately ₹2.88 crore, ex-showroom. The updated model is expected to move above the ₹3 crore mark owing to its additional technology, richer standard equipment and broader personalisation programme.
Local assembly of the S 580 is expected to continue, helping Mercedes-Benz maintain a more competitive price than a fully imported model. A higher-performance version could be introduced as a completely built unit.

The October 5 launch will strengthen Mercedes-Benz India’s presence at the very top of the luxury-car market. The updated Maybach S-Class is more than a routine cosmetic facelift: its expanded digital architecture, rear-seat experience and customisation programme are designed to defend its position against the Bentley Flying Spur, Range Rover SV and other chauffeur-driven luxury models.
The final powertrain strategy will be particularly important. A locally assembled V8 should remain central to demand, while the S 580e could introduce plug-in-hybrid capability to India’s ultra-luxury limousine segment.
