Mahindra Emerges as the Biggest Force in the 7-Seater Market
July’s ranking highlights Mahindra’s increasingly strong grip on the three-row SUV market. The company had four products inside the Top 7 — Scorpio, Bolero, XUV7XO/XUV700 and 9S. Combined, these four Mahindra nameplates contributed 37,709 units, equivalent to roughly 41.5% of the entire 7-seater market during July 2026.
Maruti Suzuki, meanwhile, remained dominant in the MPV space through the Ertiga and XL6, while Toyota maintained one of the most diversified portfolios ranging from the affordable Rumion to the Innova, Fortuner and ultra-premium Vellfire.
Conclusion
The Indian 7-seater market had a particularly strong July 2026, with overall volumes climbing nearly 25% YoY to 90,788 units.
The Ertiga remains the undisputed volume leader, while the Scorpio continues to underline Mahindra’s growing SUV dominance. Strong performances from the Bolero, XUV7XO/XUV700, XL6 and Rumion also contributed substantially to the segment's expansion.
At the same time, new entrants such as the Mahindra 9S, Nissan Gravite, MG Majestor and Volkswagen Tayron are broadening customer choice across price points. With nearly 91,000 vehicles sold in a single month, India's market for three-row family vehicles is clearly gaining momentum — and the battle between MPVs and SUVs is becoming increasingly intense.
