Auto Punditz Take
June 2026 underlines the continued strength of India's compact SUV market, with demand increasingly concentrating around established nameplates. Tata Motors has firmly established itself as the segment leader through the Punch and Nexon, while Hyundai and Mahindra continue to gain ground with refreshed products. Maruti Suzuki's Fronx remains a standout success, but the Brezza's significant decline suggests shifting customer preferences within the brand's own portfolio.
With multiple new launches, hybrid powertrains and festive season demand expected in the coming months, the sub-4 metre SUV segment is likely to remain one of the most fiercely contested battlegrounds in the Indian passenger vehicle industry.
