Bharat NCAP Safety Ratings: 2026 Maruti Brezza Facelift Scores 5 Stars!

The recently launched 2026 Maruti Suzuki Brezza facelift has secured a full 5-star safety rating for both adult and child occupant protection under Bharat NCAP. The result strengthens the Brezza’s credentials in the highly competitive sub-four-metre SUV segment, where safety ratings are increasingly influencing purchase decisions.

The updated Brezza scored 30.41 points out of 32 for Adult Occupant Protection and 43 points out of 49 for Child Occupant Protection. Its combined score stands at 73.41 points out of a possible 81.

The Brezza sits at 18th position in the accompanying Bharat NCAP chart when vehicles are ranked according to their Adult Occupant Protection score. However, this should not be interpreted as an overall safety ranking, because the table is arranged primarily by adult protection points rather than the combined total.

Several vehicles placed below the Brezza on adult protection points have a higher combined score because of stronger child occupant protection performance.

Mahindra XEV 9e and Tata Harrier EV Contine to Lead India’s Safest Cars List

Based on the adult- and child-occupant protection scores published by Bharat NCAP, the Mahindra XEV 9e and Tata Harrier EV emerge as the joint leaders, with both vehicles securing the maximum 32 points in Adult Occupant Protection and 45 points in Child Occupant Protection. This gives each model a combined score of 77 points out of 81.

The Mahindra XEV 9e and Tata Harrier EV occupy the top two positions in the AutoPunditz comparison. Both electric SUVs achieved:

The Harrier EV’s official Bharat NCAP result applies to the tested EMP 75 and EMP 75 AWD versions, subject to the variants specified under the rating’s applicability section.

Electric vehicles perform strongly

One of the clearest trends visible in the results is the strong representation of electric vehicles near the top of the chart.

A significant result for Maruti Suzuki

The Brezza’s rating is part of a broader improvement in Maruti Suzuki’s Bharat NCAP performance. The company already has five-star-rated products such as the Victoris, e Vitara and Invicto, while the Baleno has received four stars in recently published results. The Brezza now brings a five-star rating to a more accessible, high-volume SUV category.

With an introductory starting price reported at ₹7.40 lakh, ex-showroom, the updated Brezza combines its refreshed styling and feature additions with a verified five-star crash-test result.

Auto Punditz analysis

The Bharat NCAP result may prove to be one of the most important updates made to the 2026 Brezza facelift. Its 30.41/32 adult protection score is close to that of larger and more expensive vehicles such as the Toyota Innova Hycross and Maruti Invicto. The Brezza also remains ahead of several popular SUVs, including the Tata Nexon and Mahindra XUV 3XO, in terms of adult occupant protection points.

However, buyers should look beyond the star rating alone. Child protection scores, standard safety equipment, variant-wise features and the availability of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems can differ significantly between five-star-rated vehicles.

Nevertheless, securing five stars in both categories gives the recently launched Brezza facelift a valuable advantage. It is no longer positioned only around fuel efficiency, resale value and Maruti Suzuki’s extensive service network—the new Brezza can now also highlight independently assessed crash safety as one of its principal strengths.
