BMW overtakes Mercedes Benz to become the No.1 Luxury Car OEM for March 2021!

As per the March 2021 registrations data shared by FADA, BMW retailed a total of 826 units against Mercedes Benz's retails of 812 units! With this, BMW dethroned Mercedes Benz to become India's Top Luxury Carmaker for March 2021.

BMW India has been on a product offensive mode and is reaping the benefits of consistent launches in recent months. BMW’s sales numbers are impressive despite the lull in the luxury cars segment. The luxury car sales posted a massive Year-on-Year sales drop of 42.3 percent in the month of March 2021 and even BMW recorded -39.6% de-growth.

• The gap between BMW and Mercedes was just 14 units. Both the OEMs are leaving no stone unturned to become the market leader and are consistently bringing in new models to gain supremacy in the segment.

• While Mercedes launched the E-Class facelift and the A-Class Limousine in March; BMW has also launched the New 6-series at an attractive price in Apr'21. Do note that the new model launches/facelifts have a significant contribution in gaining sales in the luxury segment.

• JLR superseded Volvo Audi to hold the third spot. However; both JLR volumes were dismal in Mar'21 and could sell only 214 units.

• Volvo outsold Audi too and placed itself in the fourth rank.

• Audi is further pushed to the fifth rank in the table and it registered a fall of -79.4% YoY. It also lost the highest Market Share in March 2021.
