Citroën India has officially launched the new ë-C3X electric crossover with prices starting at ₹10.25 lakh (ex-showroom). In a move aimed at reducing the upfront cost of EV ownership, the French automaker is also offering the model under its Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) program, bringing the entry price down to ₹6.89 lakh, excluding battery subscription charges.
The launch marks another step in Citroën's India 2.0 strategy, which focuses on delivering feature-rich products while improving affordability and ownership flexibility.

Pricing Structure
Purchase Model | Starting Price |
Standard Ownership | ₹10.25 lakh |
BaaS Ownership | ₹6.89 lakh + battery subscription |
Under the BaaS model, customers pay a lower vehicle price upfront and subscribe to battery usage separately. Citroën's announced battery rental cost is approximately ₹2.26 per kilometre, allowing buyers to significantly reduce the initial purchase cost.
Design: Familiar Yet Distinctive
The ë-C3X retains the crossover-inspired silhouette of the petrol-powered C3X, combining SUV-like ground clearance with sedan-like proportions. The design continues Citroën's focus on practicality and comfort while offering a distinctive alternative to conventional compact SUVs.
Battery, Range And Performance
Powering the ë-C3X is a 29.2 kWh battery pack paired with a front-mounted electric motor producing approximately 57 PS and 143 Nm of torque. The company claims a driving range of around 320 km on a full charge, making it suitable for both urban commutes and occasional highway trips.

Why The BaaS Model Matters
The introduction of BaaS could be the biggest differentiator for the ë-C3X. By separating battery ownership from vehicle ownership, Citroën significantly lowers the purchase barrier for EV buyers. The model is particularly attractive for fleet operators, urban commuters, and first-time EV buyers who want a lower entry price without compromising on practicality.
The ë-C3X is not merely an electric version of the C3X—it is a strategic product designed to improve EV accessibility. With a crossover body style, practical 320 km range, modern connectivity features, and an innovative BaaS pricing structure, Citroën is targeting buyers who find traditional EV pricing difficult to justify.
If the BaaS ecosystem gains acceptance, the ë-C3X could emerge as one of the most affordable and practical electric crossovers in India, while helping Citroën strengthen its presence in the country's rapidly growing EV market.
