ESC uses multiple sensors to understand the driver’s steering input and compare it with the actual movement of the vehicle. If the system detects that the car is understeering, oversteering or not following the intended path, it can selectively apply brakes to individual wheels and reduce engine power.
This helps the vehicle regain stability and stay closer to the direction intended by the driver.
