Honda ZR-V e:HEV Launched in India at ₹47.99 Lakh; Deliveries Begin

Honda Cars India has announced the price of the all-new ZR-V e:HEV and commenced customer deliveries of its new flagship SUV in India. The premium strong-hybrid SUV has been priced at ₹47,99,000, ex-showroom Delhi.
The ZR-V is being imported from Japan as a Completely Built Unit, or CBU, and is available in a single, fully equipped e:HEV variant. The first two production batches allocated for the Indian market have reportedly already been sold out, indicating encouraging initial demand despite its premium positioning.

2.0-Litre Strong-Hybrid Powertrain
The India-spec Honda ZR-V is powered by a 2.0-litre direct-injection, Atkinson-cycle petrol engine paired with a dual-motor hybrid system and an e-CVT transmission.
The strong-hybrid powertrain produces a combined output of approximately 181 bhp and 315 Nm. Honda claims that the SUV can accelerate from 0–100 km/h in 7.9 seconds while delivering fuel efficiency of 22.8 km/l.

This allows the ZR-V to operate primarily through its electric motor in several urban driving situations while using the petrol engine more directly at higher speeds.

Honda is offering the ZR-V with a standard warranty of three years with unlimited kilometres, along with three years of complimentary roadside assistance.
Customers can also select extended-warranty packages of up to seven years. The hybrid battery is covered for eight years or 1,60,000 km, while other hybrid-system components receive coverage for five years or 1,00,000 km.
Rivals and Positioning
At ₹47.99 lakh, the Honda ZR-V e:HEV sits in the premium SUV segment alongside models such as the Skoda Kodiaq, Volkswagen Tayron and Jeep Meridian.
However, unlike most of its direct competitors, the ZR-V uses a petrol-electric strong-hybrid powertrain. Its claimed 22.8 km/l efficiency could therefore become its biggest differentiator, although its CBU status results in a substantially higher price than locally assembled Honda models.
The ZR-V also marks Honda’s return to the premium SUV space in India and gives the company a new flagship product above the Elevate and City. With the initial allocation reportedly sold out, Honda appears to be targeting a limited but affluent customer base looking for a refined, efficient and relatively distinctive Japanese hybrid SUV.

The Honda ZR-V e is a well-engineered, feature-rich hybrid SUV that stands out for its refinement, efficiency, and strong safety package. However, its extremely high CBU-driven price places it in a very niche bracket, limiting its appeal to a small set of premium buyers. While it strengthens Honda’s hybrid credentials in India, its success will ultimately depend on how many customers are willing to pay a significant premium for its efficiency and exclusivity.
