HYUNDAI’S NEW CAR LAUNCH: Bayon, SUV to be launched in Asian



Bayon SUV, Hyundai’s most affordable offering, is likely to be launched as an entry-level SUV in the Asian markets.

Hyundai Bayon will be manufactured in its Izmit, Turkey factory and exported to more than 40 countries.

Bayon derives its name from the city of Bayonne, located in southwest France. It will be designed with Europe in mind. Positioned in the B-segment and Hyundai’s new flagship as an entry-level SUV.

In the front, Bayon has a wide grille flanked by large air openings on both sides.

The three-part main lights consisting of daytime running lights, low and high beams give a stylish ambiance to the SUV. The positioning of the Daytime running lights towards the end of the hood emphasizes the sense of spaciousness.|



A dynamic shoulder provides a wedge-shaped appearance, on the side.

The arrow-shaped C-pillar in combination with fender feature and cladding provides a dynamic and unexpected architecture while defining its unique character.



The arrow-shaped lights in the rear, underline the pillar dynamics. The taillights are connected by a thin horizontal line. The strong rear section, visually extended rear window initiate its unique and expressive rear design, and the Full LED lights and indicators complete its modern look.


Dimensions of the Bayon SUV are 4,180mm in length, 1,775mm in width, and 1,490mm in height. The wheelbase of 2,580mm with either 15-inch steel wheels or 16- or 17-inch alloy wheels. Bayon SUV has a large 411 litres of boot space.



The interiors come loaded with a range of connectivity equipment, including a 10.25-inch digital cluster and a 10.25-inch AVN or 8-inch Display Audio. It also has the feature of LED ambient lighting integrated into the front passenger foot areas, door wells, front door pull handle areas, as well as storage area below the centre console.


The 8-inch Display Audio with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto makes Hyundai the first to introduce wireless phone mirroring for a car of this size.


The Bayon will be available in three different interior colors: all black, dark-light grey, and dark grey. It also comes with a green stitched upholstery.


A number of semi-autonomous driving features like Lane Following Assist (LFA) to keep the vehicle centered in its lane, Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA) to sound an alarm and apply the brakes to prevent a collision from occurring if necessary, add on to its offerings.


The Engine will be identical to that of the i20. At the top end will be a 1.0-liter T-GDi engine with 48V and 120 or 100 PS. The Engine can be coupled with the 6-speed intelligent Manual Transmission (6iMT) or a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission (7DCT).


The 1.0-liter T-GDi engine with 48V comes with three drive modes: Eco/Normal and Sport, to have optimum engine response and steering performance based on driving conditions.
