According to the company, the performance surpassed its previous monthly record achieved in July 2026. Both domestic sales and exports recorded double-digit growth, contributing to Hyundai’s new monthly milestone.

Domestic Sales Rise 10.9%

Hyundai’s domestic sales reached 57,166 units in September 2026, growing 10.9% over the corresponding month last year. The Indian market accounted for approximately 73.4% of HMIL’s total monthly volumes.

Domestic growth was marginally ahead of export growth, with both segments contributing to the overall increase. The release did not provide a model-wise sales breakdown, so the contribution of individual Hyundai models to September’s performance remains undisclosed. The record announced by Hyundai relates to total domestic sales and exports combined, rather than domestic sales alone.

Exports Cross 20,000 Units

HMIL exported 20,750 vehicles during September 2026, a 10.4% year-on-year increase. Exports contributed approximately 26.6% of total sales, accounting for more than one in four vehicles in the company’s monthly tally. The similar growth rates across domestic and export markets indicate that September’s increase was spread across both parts of Hyundai’s business.

September Surpasses July’s Sales Record

Hyundai said September’s performance exceeded its previous highest monthly total, recorded in July 2026. However, the release did not specify the July sales figure or the margin by which the latest result surpassed it.

Commenting on the performance, Tarun Garg, MD & CEO of HMIL, attributed the growth across domestic and export markets to the appeal of the company’s product portfolio. He also expressed expectations of sustained customer enthusiasm during the festive season.

Hyundai BAYON Bookings Add to Festive-Season Activity

Hyundai highlighted the opening of bookings for the upcoming BAYON, which it described as an all-new nameplate for India, as a further support for customer interest during the festive period. The announcement did not disclose BAYON booking volumes, prices or delivery timelines. Its contribution to future sales will become clearer as Hyundai announces further details and deliveries begin.

Auto Punditz Take

Hyundai’s September performance stands out for the balanced growth across domestic sales and exports. With both segments expanding by more than 10%, the company’s record monthly total was supported by growth in India as well as overseas shipments.

The next point to watch will be whether Hyundai can sustain this momentum through the festive season, alongside the introduction of the BAYON. Model-wise figures would provide a clearer picture of which vehicles are driving the company’s domestic performance.
