Mahindra XUV 7XO Secures 5-Star Bharat NCAP Safety Rating
Scores 30.76/32 for adult protection and 44.97/49 for child protection
The Mahindra XUV 7XO has secured a five-star safety rating for both adult and child occupant protection in the latest Bharat New Car Assessment Programme crash tests.
The three-row SUV scored 30.76 points out of 32 for Adult Occupant Protection and 44.97 points out of 49 for Child Occupant Protection, placing it among the highest-scoring internal-combustion SUVs evaluated by Bharat NCAP.

Adult occupant protection explained
In the frontal offset deformable barrier test, the XUV 7XO scored 14.76 points out of 16. Protection for the driver’s and front passenger’s head and neck was rated good.
The driver’s chest received an adequate rating, while protection for the front passenger’s chest was rated good. Most areas of the occupants’ lower body also received good protection, although protection for the driver’s shin was assessed as adequate.
The SUV secured the full 16 points out of 16 in the side movable deformable barrier test. Protection was rated good across the assessed body regions. The side pole-impact test also showed good occupant protection.
Strong child occupant protection score
The XUV 7XO recorded a near-perfect 23.97 points out of 24 in the dynamic child-protection tests.

An overall child occupant score of 44.97 out of 49
The result indicates that compatible child seats could be installed securely in the designated seating positions. As always, the correct child-restraint system must be selected according to the child’s age, height and weight.
Which XUV 7XO variants were tested?
Bharat NCAP evaluated the AX7 diesel seven-seat automatic and AX7L diesel 4WD seven-seat automatic versions of the XUV 7XO.
The resulting rating covers a wider selection of petrol and diesel variants specified by Bharat NCAP, rather than being restricted only to the two vehicles physically crash-tested.

Mahindra says the XUV 7XO offers six airbags as standard, while selected higher variants receive seven airbags and curtain protection extending to the third row. Higher versions also offer Level 2 ADAS and a 540-degree camera system.
How it compares with the XUV700
The outgoing XUV700 had previously secured five stars for adult occupant protection and four stars for child occupant protection under Global NCAP’s earlier protocol.
The XUV 7XO’s five-star result in both Bharat NCAP categories represents an improvement in its child-safety rating while reinforcing the underlying platform’s crash-protection performance. However, the two results should not be compared solely by their numerical scores because they were recorded under different assessment programmes and protocols.

The five-star Bharat NCAP rating strengthens the XUV 7XO’s position as a safety-focused three-row family SUV. Particularly noteworthy are its full side-impact score and near-perfect child dynamic-test result.
The rating does not make a vehicle immune to injuries, and real-world outcomes continue to depend on collision severity, correct seatbelt use, proper installation of child seats and responsible driving. Nevertheless, the independently assessed result gives buyers measurable evidence of the SUV’s occupant-protection performance.
