Mercedes-Benz India has recorded its strongest-ever first-half sales performance, retailing 9,768 vehicles between January and June 2026. The luxury carmaker registered a 9% year-on-year growth over H1 2025 while also achieving its best-ever second quarter with 4,637 units sold, up 10% YoY.
The performance was driven by robust demand for the newly launched CLA BEV and V-Class, continued strength in the long-wheelbase E-Class, record sales of top-end luxury models, and rapidly growing electric vehicle adoption.

Mercedes-Benz stated that it remains optimistic about the second half of 2026, supported by an expanding retail network, festive season demand and a healthy order pipeline.
Top-End Luxury Portfolio Reaches Record Contribution
One of the biggest highlights of Mercedes-Benz India's H1 performance was the growing popularity of its high-end luxury vehicles.
The Top-End Luxury (TEV) portfolio contributed 28% of total sales, the highest share ever achieved by the brand in India. Sales in this segment grew by over 20% during the first half of the year.
Key contributors included:
Mercedes-Maybach models
Mercedes-AMG performance cars
S-Class luxury sedan
Newly introduced V-Class luxury MPV
The company said customers continue to prefer premium products with advanced technology and higher levels of luxury rather than focusing solely on entry-level pricing.
Mercedes-AMG Continues Strong Momentum
Performance-focused Mercedes-AMG vehicles witnessed exceptional demand, registering 50% growth during H1 2026.
The result reflects the increasing popularity of high-performance luxury vehicles among Indian buyers, with AMG now becoming an increasingly important pillar of Mercedes-Benz India's premium portfolio.
Electric Vehicle Penetration Doubles
Mercedes-Benz also reported significant growth in its battery electric vehicle (BEV) business.
During Q2 2026, electric vehicles accounted for 14% of total Mercedes-Benz India sales, representing a sharp increase over previous quarters.
Growth was led by:
Mercedes-Benz CLA BEV
Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV
According to the company:
The CLA BEV sold out within days of launch.
Current waiting periods extend to 5–6 months.
The EQS SUV has emerged as the brand's highest-selling luxury electric SUV in India.
Top-end electric models contributed 25% of Top-End Luxury sales during H1 2026.
The figures indicate growing customer confidence in premium electric mobility, particularly when supported by long range, advanced technology and strong brand value.
Long-Wheelbase E-Class Remains the Bestseller
Mercedes-Benz confirmed that the Long Wheelbase E-Class continues to be the highest-selling luxury car in India.
The company also highlighted particularly strong demand for the flagship E450 variant, reflecting buyers' increasing preference for higher-specification luxury sedans.
New V-Class Creates a New Luxury MPV Segment
The newly introduced V-Class has exceeded company expectations and has effectively created a niche within India's luxury mobility market.
Mercedes-Benz said:
Initial allocation has been fully booked.
Bookings will reopen in July 2026.
Customer deliveries are expected during the upcoming festive season.
The V-Class has attracted both family buyers and chauffeur-driven customers seeking premium space and comfort.
Dealer Network Expansion Continues
Mercedes-Benz India plans to strengthen its retail footprint further during Q3 2026.
The company will inaugurate five new luxury dealerships across emerging markets, including Varanasi, as part of its strategy to improve accessibility and customer experience beyond traditional metro cities.
Management Commentary
Commenting on the results, Santosh Iyer, Managing Director & CEO, Mercedes-Benz India, said the company's record H1 performance validates its strategy of focusing on desirable products, premium customer experience and network expansion.
He highlighted the strong reception received by the CLA BEV and V-Class, stating that both products played a significant role in delivering the company's best-ever H1 and Q2 sales performance.
Iyer also noted that customers are increasingly choosing Mercedes-Benz's latest technologies, with the CLA BEV selling out shortly after launch despite waiting periods stretching to nearly six months.

Auto Punditz Take
Mercedes-Benz India's H1 2026 performance reinforces the growing resilience of India's luxury vehicle market despite broader economic uncertainties.
The numbers reveal three notable trends shaping the premium segment:
Buyers are increasingly opting for higher-end luxury vehicles, pushing Top-End Luxury penetration to a record 28%.
Electric mobility is rapidly entering the mainstream luxury space, with BEVs now accounting for 14% of quarterly sales.
Performance-oriented products such as Mercedes-AMG continue to gain popularity, suggesting stronger acceptance of enthusiast-focused luxury vehicles.
With fresh dealership expansion, festive-season deliveries of the V-Class, sustained demand for the CLA BEV and continued momentum in its flagship luxury portfolio, Mercedes-Benz appears well positioned to maintain its growth trajectory during the second half of 2026.
