Mercedes-Benz India Records Best-Ever Quarter; January–September Sales Reach 15,190 Units
Mercedes-Benz India registered its highest-ever quarterly retail sales in July–September 2026, delivering 5,422 vehicles. The performance helped the company achieve record January–September sales of 15,190 units, with growth supported by its core models, top-end luxury range and electric vehicles.
Quarterly sales increased 5.9% year-on-year, while nine-month volumes rose 7.5%. Higher-end products continued to outperform the overall business, although the established sedan and SUV portfolio remained the biggest contributor to deliveries.
Period | 2026 sales | 2025 sales | YoY growth |
July–September | 5,422 | 5,119 | 5.9% |
January–September | 15,190 | 14,132 | 7.5% |
Growth calculated from reported volumes. All figures represent Mercedes-Benz India’s retail deliveries.
The company also reported 17% growth over Q2 2026, attributing the improvement partly to festive demand and its Dream Days campaign, which included financing offers.
Core models contribute around 60% of sales
Mercedes-Benz’s Core Luxury segment accounted for approximately 60% of January–September deliveries, led by the C-Class, long-wheelbase E-Class, GLC and GLE.
According to Mercedes-Benz, the long-wheelbase E-Class remained India’s highest-selling luxury car. The release does not disclose individual model volumes, preventing a numerical comparison of their respective contributions.
The mix illustrates the importance of the company’s established range. Flagship and electric products are delivering stronger growth, but core sedans and SUVs continue to provide the bulk of its Indian sales.
Top-end luxury grows 13%; AMG sales rise 18%
Mercedes-Benz’s Top-End Luxury segment grew 13% year-on-year, contributing more than a quarter of total sales during the first nine months of 2026.
The company highlighted demand for products including the S-Class, Mercedes-Maybach range and AMG G 63. It also reported customer interest in the V-Class for intercity journeys and airport travel.
Personalisation played a significant role: Mercedes-Benz said its MANUFAKTUR programme accounted for approximately 75% of Top-End Luxury sales.
Meanwhile, the Mercedes-AMG portfolio recorded 18% growth. The AMG G 63 achieved its highest-ever monthly sales, although the company did not disclose the month or volume.
The stronger growth in these categories suggests that premium and performance products are becoming increasingly important to the sales mix. However, the release does not provide revenue or transaction-price data to quantify their financial contribution.
Electric vehicle sales increase 16%
Mercedes-Benz’s battery-electric vehicle portfolio grew 16% during January–September 2026, outpacing the overall business.
The new CLA BEV secured more than 1,000 confirmed orders, with deliveries extending to March 2027, according to the company. This indicates an order pipeline, although bookings must be distinguished from completed retail sales.
At the higher end of the electric portfolio, the Mercedes-Maybach EQS SUV registered 68% year-on-year growth. Mercedes-Benz also reported continued interest in the EQS SUV and G 580.
The company did not disclose absolute electric vehicle volumes or their share of total deliveries. Consequently, the growth figures show momentum but do not establish the size of its electric business.
Entry Luxury grows at a more measured pace
The Entry Luxury segment, comprising the GLA and CLA BEV in the release, grew 4% year-on-year and represented approximately 15% of total sales.
This was slower than the overall business and the Top-End Luxury segment, indicating stronger growth at the upper end of the portfolio.
The segment shares are approximate and should not be treated as an exact reconciliation of total volumes.
S-Class deliveries and GLC BEV debut ahead
Mercedes-Benz plans to commence deliveries of the new electrified S-Class from mid-October 2026. The company says the top-spec MANUFAKTUR Edition is sold out for the year, while limited EXCLUSIVE Line units remain available for orders.
The GLC BEV is scheduled to make its India debut on November 4, 2026. Indian pricing and the delivery schedule were not disclosed in the release.
These introductions, alongside deliveries against the CLA BEV order book, will be important developments to track in the final quarter.

Auto Punditz perspective
Mercedes-Benz’s nine-month performance combines record retail volumes with faster growth in its higher-end products. The core portfolio remains the foundation, while Top-End Luxury, AMG and electric vehicles are providing additional momentum.
The company delivered 1,058 more vehicles than in January–September 2025. The next question is how effectively it can convert pending orders and upcoming product introductions into additional deliveries.
The figures establish a strong performance for Mercedes-Benz India. They do not, on their own, establish the growth rate of India’s wider luxury car market.
