Mercedes-Benz India has launched the Mercedes-Maybach S 580e 4MATIC at ₹3.35 crore, introducing a plug-in hybrid powertrain to its Maybach range in India. Announced on October 5, 2026, the luxury limousine will have an initial launch allocation of just 30 units.

The S 580e combines a six-cylinder petrol engine with an electric motor and a rechargeable battery, allowing electric-only driving alongside the flexibility of a petrol powertrain for longer journeys. The India-spec model comes exclusively in a four-seat configuration, with a strong emphasis on rear-seat comfort.

The plug-in hybrid system produces a combined 585 hp and 750 Nm, with power delivered through a 9G-TRONIC automatic transmission and 4MATIC all-wheel drive. Mercedes-Benz quotes a 0–100 km/h acceleration time of 4.8 seconds and an electronically limited top speed of 250 km/h. In electric-only operation, the limousine can reach up to 140 km/h.

A 22 kWh usable battery supports a WLTP-certified electric range of up to 98 km. While the release rounds this to approximately 100 km in some places, 98 km is the specific certified figure quoted in its detailed description. Actual range will depend on traffic, driving style, temperature and usage. Maybach, Electric and Battery Hold modes allow drivers to tailor powertrain operation to the journey. Adjustable recuperation, including one-pedal driving, is also listed. For owners with regular charging access, the electric range could cover many daily city journeys, while the petrol engine adds flexibility for longer trips.

Charging capability extends to 11 kW AC and 60 kW DC. Mercedes-Benz includes a complimentary home charging solution and access to compatible public charging infrastructure through MB.CHARGE Public. The release does not specify charging times.

The company also quotes WLTP-certified weighted combined fuel efficiency of 34.48 kmpl. This is a plug-in hybrid test-cycle figure that incorporates electric driving; it should not be interpreted as petrol-only mileage or an assured everyday result. Real-world fuel consumption will depend heavily on how frequently the battery is charged and how the car is used.

Inside, the four-seat layout features individual Executive rear seats and a full-length centre console. Wireless charging, temperature-controlled cup holders and folding tables support the rear-seat experience. The equipment list also includes the Rear Comfort Package Plus, climatised seats, calf massage and automatic comfort doors.

The MANUFAKTUR cabin treatment includes Exclusive Nappa leather in crystal white and silver-grey pearl, piano lacquer trim and a crystal white Nappa leather roof liner. A Burmester 4D surround sound system brings 31 speakers, eight exciters and 1,610 watts of output, alongside Dolby Atmos support.

Digital features listed in the release include MB.OS, an MBUX Superscreen with a front-passenger display and privacy function, a 3D driver display, augmented-reality head-up display and navigation. Rear occupants also receive MBUX controls.

Cloud-based AIRMATIC air suspension uses navigation information to help adapt damping to anticipated road conditions. Rear-axle steering is standard, with the release stating that steering capability can be extended up to 10 degrees.

Safety equipment includes 15 airbags, PRE-SAFE occupant protection systems and MB.DRIVE ASSIST Level 2 driver assistance. Distance Assist DISTRONIC and Steering Assist support following-distance control and lane guidance. DIGITAL LIGHT, Adaptive Highbeam Assist Plus and GUARD 360° Vehicle Protection Plus are also listed.
