JSW MG Motor India is preparing to expand its new-energy vehicle portfolio with an all-new three-row SUV, expected to be called the MG Hector Hawk. MG Hector Hawk India Launch on August 26

The new SUV is scheduled to debut in India on August 26. While the Hector Hawk name has been trademarked in India, complete India-spec specifications, variants and prices are yet to be officially announced.


Importantly, the upcoming model shouldn't be viewed simply as another variant of the existing Hector. It is based on a different architecture and represents the next phase of JSW MG Motor India's electrification strategy.


The production model is derived from the Wuling Starlight 560, with India-specific changes expected in equipment, powertrain calibration and positioning.


First MG Based on the New ADAPT Platform

One of the biggest talking points surrounding the Hector Hawk is what lies underneath it. The SUV will use MG's new ADAPT architecture, which has been developed to accommodate multiple new-energy powertrain technologies. The platform can support:

  • Battery electric vehicles (BEVs)

  • Plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs)

  • Strong hybrids

  • Range-extender electric vehicles

The approximately 530km figure is based on the CLTC test cycle, which tends to be more optimistic than India's homologated range figures. Buyers should therefore wait for the official India-spec certified range before making direct comparisons with rival EVs.

Potentially even more interesting for India will be the plug-in hybrid version.

The interior is expected to follow a relatively minimalist approach.

The international SUV uses an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster alongside a larger 12.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system.
