MG Hector Tomahawk EV Launched At ₹19.49 Lakh – 517 Km Range, 7 Seats And 69.2 kWh Battery

JSW MG Motor India has launched the Hector Tomahawk EV in India, marking the arrival of the company's first model based on its new ADAPT electrified vehicle architecture. Prices start at ₹19.49 lakh (ex-showroom) for outright purchase, while MG's Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) programme lowers the initial vehicle price to ₹13.99 lakh, excluding battery rental.
The Hector Tomahawk EV is being offered in both five-seat and seven-seat configurations, gets a 69.2 kWh LFP battery pack, and delivers a claimed 517 km MIDC range on a full charge.
Alongside the all-electric version, MG has also launched the Hector Tomahawk PHEV, making the Tomahawk one of the most significant additions yet to MG's electrified portfolio in India. The plug-in hybrid has been priced from ₹25.69 lakh, while its BaaS price starts at ₹21.79 lakh.

MG is offering the electric Tomahawk in three trim levels — Excite, Exclusive and Essence.

The introductory prices are applicable to a limited number of units.
Under the BaaS ownership programme, prices start at ₹13.99 lakh, with customers subsequently paying ₹4.90 per km as battery rental. Variant-specific BaaS prices have not yet been announced.
Bookings are open, with customer deliveries of the electric version scheduled to commence in September 2026.
69.2 kWh Battery And 517 Km Claimed Range
The Hector Tomahawk EV uses a 69.2 kWh LFP battery pack paired with a permanent-magnet synchronous electric motor.
The motor produces:

0–100 km/h: 8.2 seconds
MG claims a certified MIDC range of 517 km on a full charge.
While the headline range figure puts the Tomahawk comfortably beyond 500 km on the MIDC cycle, real-world range will naturally depend on speed, driving conditions, climate-control usage and payload.
Charging: 90 kW DC Fast Charging
The Hector Tomahawk EV gets a CCS2 charging interface and supports DC fast charging at up to 90 kW.
MG claims a compatible 90 kW DC charger can replenish the battery from 30 percent to 80 percent in around 35 minutes.
With a 7.4 kW AC charger, charging from 10 percent to 100 percent takes approximately 12.5 hours.
A portable charger compatible with a conventional 15A socket is also available.
V2L, V2V And Vehicle-To-Home Charging
One of the more interesting technology highlights of the Tomahawk EV is its bidirectional charging capability.
The SUV supports:
V2L – Vehicle-to-Load: supplies electricity to compatible external appliances
V2V – Vehicle-to-Vehicle: enables the Tomahawk to provide charge to another EV
V2H – Vehicle-to-Home: allows the vehicle battery to supply power to a household through a compatible bidirectional setup
MG claims the Hector Tomahawk EV is the first vehicle in India to offer Vehicle-to-Home functionality.
V2H could become particularly relevant as EV battery capacities increase, effectively allowing a parked vehicle to function as a substantial mobile energy-storage system when the necessary home-side charging equipment is installed.
Big Three-Row SUV With 2,810 mm Wheelbase
Despite carrying the Hector name, the Tomahawk is not simply an electric conversion of the existing Hector.
It uses MG's new ADAPT architecture and measures:

The long 2,810 mm wheelbase is particularly important for the Tomahawk's family-SUV positioning, helping accommodate its optional third row.
Five-Seat And Seven-Seat Options
MG has taken the unusual route of offering the Hector Tomahawk EV in both five-seat and seven-seat configurations.
The five-seat Essence version offers 610 litres of luggage space, increasing to 1,053 litres with the second row folded.
The seven-seater provides:
192 litres with all three rows in use
528 litres with the third row folded
This gives the Tomahawk a broader target audience than a conventional three-row EV, with the five-seat variant aimed at buyers prioritising luggage capacity over maximum passenger accommodation.
Exterior Design
The Hector Tomahawk EV adopts a more conventional upright SUV silhouette rather than the coupe-SUV approach increasingly common among premium electric vehicles.
The front gets LED projector headlamps, LED daytime-running lamps and an illuminated MG logo positioned between the lighting elements.
The electric version also receives a largely closed-off front fascia.

Hector Tomahawk Debuts MG's ADAPT Architecture
Arguably the biggest strategic development underneath the Tomahawk is MG's new ADAPT – Advanced Drive Architecture Platform Technology.
The Tomahawk EV becomes the first MG vehicle in India based on this architecture.
Rather than being engineered exclusively around battery-electric propulsion, ADAPT has been conceived as a flexible electrified platform capable of supporting different propulsion technologies.
The importance of that flexibility has already become evident because MG has launched a PHEV version of the Tomahawk alongside the EV.
Hector Tomahawk PHEV Also Launched
MG has simultaneously expanded the Tomahawk range with a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle.
The Hector Tomahawk PHEV has been launched at ₹25.69 lakh (ex-showroom).
It combines a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine with a 20.5 kWh battery, and MG claims an electric-only driving range of more than 115 km.
With a full fuel tank and fully charged battery, the company claims a combined driving range exceeding 1,100 km and fuel efficiency of approximately 40 km/l.
Unlike the EV, the PHEV is available only as a seven-seater.
MG is also offering the PHEV through BaaS, with prices starting at ₹21.79 lakh and a battery rental charge of ₹3.20 per km.
Bookings have commenced, while PHEV deliveries are scheduled to begin in November 2026.
The Tomahawk PHEV is particularly notable because it becomes one of India's first mainstream plug-in hybrid SUVs, bringing technology previously concentrated largely in significantly more expensive luxury vehicles into a more accessible segment.

The Tomahawk enters an increasingly competitive three-row electric vehicle market.

However, MG's combination of a 517 km MIDC range, seven-seat availability and BaaS ownership option gives the Tomahawk a somewhat different proposition.
Auto Punditz Take
The ₹19.49 lakh starting price is arguably the most important number attached to the Hector Tomahawk EV.
Three-row electric SUVs remain a relatively small part of the Indian EV market, and MG has positioned the Tomahawk aggressively enough to overlap with conventional petrol and diesel family SUVs rather than restricting it to premium-EV buyers.
BaaS makes the headline entry price of ₹13.99 lakh even more eye-catching, although buyers need to calculate the ₹4.90-per-km battery rental against their annual running before comparing it directly with outright ownership.
The 517 km MIDC figure should also remove much of the psychological range barrier for family buyers, while the 2,810 mm wheelbase, optional seven-seat configuration and sizeable five-seat boot make the Tomahawk more practical than many style-led electric crossovers.
But perhaps the more consequential announcement is the simultaneous arrival of the PHEV.
India's passenger-vehicle market is currently exploring multiple routes towards electrification, and MG is effectively hedging its bets by offering both pure electric and plug-in-hybrid propulsion on the same new-generation vehicle architecture.
The EV targets customers prepared to transition completely away from petrol, while the PHEV could appeal to users who want substantial electric commuting capability but still require the long-distance flexibility of an internal-combustion engine.
That makes the Hector Tomahawk more than another MG launch.
It is effectively the first demonstration of how JSW MG Motor India intends to use the ADAPT architecture to address different stages of India's transition towards electrified mobility.
And at ₹19.49 lakh for the EV and ₹25.69 lakh for the PHEV, the company appears willing to use aggressive pricing to accelerate that transition.
