MG Windsor Crosses 75,000 Sales in Under Two Years: The EV That Rewrote MG’s India Growth Story

JSW MG Motor India’s Windsor has crossed the 75,000-unit sales milestone in less than two years, making it one of the fastest-scaling electric vehicles in India’s passenger vehicle market.

As per the monthly sales data, the MG Windsor has sold 75,498 units between October 2024 and June 2026. The model opened with 3,116 units in October 2024 and posted 4,056 units in June 2026, showing that demand has remained resilient well beyond the launch phase.

MG Windsor has crossed 75,000 cumulative sales in under two years, with 75,498 units sold between October 2024 and June 2026.

Strong Run Since Launch

The Windsor crossed 10,000 units within its first three months of reported sales and gained strong momentum through 2025. Its best month so far came in September 2025, when sales touched 4,741 units.

The second half of 2025 was particularly strong, with the Windsor crossing the 4,000-unit mark for five consecutive months from July to November. This helped the model move from being a successful launch product to becoming MG’s core volume driver in India.

H1 CY2026: 19,080 Units Sold

In the first half of CY2026, the Windsor recorded 19,080 units. Sales were softer in January and February, recovered sharply in March, dipped again in May, and rebounded to 4,056 units in June 2026. June 2026 was an important recovery month for the Windsor. Sales grew 6.8% year-on-year over June 2025 and were almost double May 2026 volumes.

Why Windsor Worked

The Windsor succeeded because it addressed three key EV purchase barriers: upfront cost, practicality and family-car appeal.

MG’s Battery-as-a-Service model helped reduce the initial purchase cost, making the Windsor easier to compare with similarly priced ICE vehicles. At the same time, its crossover-like body style, spacious cabin and comfort-focused positioning gave buyers a more complete family EV option than many smaller electric cars.

The model also benefited from the rising acceptance of EVs beyond metro cities, helping MG build scale in a segment that is still developing in India.

Auto Punditz Take

The MG Windsor’s 75,000-unit milestone is one of the most important EV success stories in India’s passenger vehicle market. It proves that Indian EV buyers are no longer looking only at range and running cost; they also want space, comfort, flexible ownership and a product that feels like a proper family car.

However, the month-wise data also shows that the Windsor’s growth curve is not perfectly linear. After a strong run in 2025, sales softened in early 2026 before bouncing back in June. This makes the next few months crucial. If MG can keep Windsor volumes consistently above 4,000 units per month while expanding charging support, aftersales confidence and localisation, the model could continue to dominate the electric car space.

The Windsor has already done what few EVs in India have managed so far: it has made electric mobility look practical, aspirational and scalable at the same time.
