The Multi-Utility Vehicle (MUV) segment in India posted strong growth in February 2026, driven by sustained demand for family-oriented and fleet-friendly vehicles. According to the latest sales data, total MUV sales reached 42,482 units in February 2026, compared to 34,556 units in February 2025, registering a 22.9% year-on-year growth.
The segment continues to be dominated by Maruti Suzuki and Toyota, while Kia and Renault also maintained steady demand with their offerings.

Maruti Ertiga Leads the Segment by a Wide Margin
The Maruti Suzuki Ertiga retained its position as the best-selling MUV in India with 17,807 units sold in February 2026, compared to 14,868 units in February 2025, registering a 19.8% YoY growth.
Ertiga captured an impressive 41.9% share of the MUV segment, meaning nearly two out of every five MUVs sold in India were Ertigas'.
The model continues to be popular among both private buyers and fleet operators thanks to its practicality, affordability, and fuel-efficient powertrain options.
Toyota Innova Remains the Premium MUV Benchmark
The combined sales of Toyota Innova Hycross and Innova Crysta reached 8,703 units in February 2026, slightly higher than 8,449 units last year, translating into 3.0% YoY growth.
With this performance, the Innova lineup held 20.5% segment share, maintaining its stronghold in the premium MPV/MUV category.
Kia Carens Strengthens Its Position
The Kia Carens (including the Clavis )Â secured the third position with 6,815 units sold, up from 5,318 units in February 2025, representing a strong 28.1% YoY growth.
Carens captured 16.0% share of the segment, highlighting its growing acceptance among Indian buyers looking for a feature-rich family vehicle.
Maruti XL6 Records Strong Growth
The Maruti Suzuki XL6Â witnessed one of the strongest growth rates in the segment, with 3,633 units sold, compared with 1,878 units last year, representing an impressive 93.5% YoY growth.
The XL6 accounted for 8.6% segment share, benefiting from the rising popularity of premium six-seater family vehicles.
Toyota Rumion and Renault Triber Show Healthy Growth
Two other models that recorded notable growth were:
Toyota Rumion:Â 2,817 units (+34.2% YoY)
Renault Triber:Â 2,419 units (+56.6% YoY)
Both models continue to appeal to value-focused buyers in the affordable MPV category.
Niche Premium MUVs
At the premium end of the segment:
Toyota Vellfire:Â 145 units (+663% YoY, albeit from a small base)
Maruti Invicto:Â 143 units (-62.4% YoY)
The Invicto’s decline reflects the intense competition from its sibling model, the Toyota Innova Hycross.
