The Tata Punch was Tata Motors' top-selling model in July 2026, with 21,313 units dispatched, marking a 98% YoY increase from 10,785 units in July 2025. It also saw a 1% rise from 21,006 units in June 2026. The Punch represented about 34% of Tata Motors' total passenger vehicle dispatches, highlighting its critical role in the company's volume strategy. Offering petrol, CNG, and electric versions, the Punch is a key component of Tata's portfolio.
The Tata Nexon dispatched 17,471 units in July, a 36% YoY increase from 12,825 units in July 2025, but a 5% MoM decrease from 18,335 units in June 2026. Despite this, the Nexon remains a key model for Tata, with a diverse powertrain range including petrol, diesel, CNG, and electric variants.
Tata's entry-level hatchback, the Tiago, had a strong month with 7,429 units dispatched, a 33% increase from 5,575 units in July 2025, and a 1% rise from June's 7,329 units. Its petrol, CNG, and electric options ensure a broad market presence.
The Tata Sierra dispatched 6,327 units in July 2026, making it Tata Motors' fourth-largest volume contributor. This was a slight 1% decrease from June's 6,392 units. Without a July 2025 comparison, year-on-year growth is not applicable. However, surpassing 6,000 units shows the revived Sierra is a significant part of Tata's passenger vehicle lineup.
The Tata Harrier showed strong performance among Tata's larger SUVs, with July dispatches rising 49% YoY to 3,301 units from 2,216 units last year. Sales also increased 11% MoM from 2,962 units in June, indicating healthy momentum for Tata's premium SUV.
The Tata Altroz dispatched 2,862 units, a 27% YoY decline from 3,905 units in July 2025. However, it saw an 18% MoM recovery from 2,426 units in June, indicating strengthened demand despite needing to recover compared to last year's performance.
The Tata Curvv saw dispatches of 1,697 units, a 15% decrease YoY from 2,005 units in July 2025, and a 3% drop from 1,753 units in June. It was one of the few Tata models with declines in both yearly and monthly comparisons in July.
Tata's Safari SUV saw a 17% YoY increase in dispatches to 1,453 units, up from 1,242 in July 2025, and a 14% MoM rise from 1,271 units in June 2026.
The Tata Tigor was Tata's lowest-volume model in July, with 758 units dispatched. Sales decreased 22% YoY from 968 units but increased 26% MoM from 602 units in June. The sedan segment faces pressure from SUVs, but the sequential recovery offers positive momentum for the Tigor.
The Punch and Nexon contributed nearly 38,800 units, with the Sierra adding significant volume. Tata's larger SUVs, the Harrier (+49% YoY) and Safari (+17%), also showed strong annual and sequential growth.
Altroz, Curvv and Tigor remained below their July 2025 volumes, showing that growth was not uniform across the entire portfolio.

Auto Punditz Take
Tata Motors' 58% YoY growth to 62,611 units makes July 2026 another strong month for the automaker. More importantly, Tata is no longer relying exclusively on one or two products to generate incremental volumes.
The Punch remains the clear powerhouse, approaching twice its year-ago volumes, while Nexon continues to deliver consistently high numbers. The Sierra's contribution of more than 6,000 units adds another substantial volume stream, while improving Harrier and Safari numbers strengthen Tata's position higher up the SUV market.
With Punch, Nexon and Sierra together accounting for over 72% of Tata's July dispatches, however, SUVs continue to dominate the company's sales mix. The coming months will be important in determining whether the improved momentum seen in models such as Altroz, Harrier, Safari and Tigor can broaden Tata Motors' growth further as India enters the festive-season demand cycle.
