Tata Motors Launches Next Gen Tiago & Tiago.ev From ₹4.69 Lakh

Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles has launched the Next Gen Tiago and Tiago.ev in India, giving its popular hatchback a major refresh across design, features, safety and powertrain choices. The new Tiago range now starts at ₹4.69 lakh for the petrol version, while the Tiago.ev starts at ₹6.99 lakh for the full-ownership electric version.

With this update, Tata Motors is clearly trying to make the hatchback segment more aspirational. While India’s entry hatchback market has slowed down over the past few years due to the rise of compact SUVs, the Tiago continues to remain an important product for Tata Motors as it offers a mix of affordability, safety and multiple fuel options.

What’s New In The Next Gen Tiago?

The updated Tiago gets a refreshed exterior design, a more premium cabin and several new-age features. Tata Motors has focused on making the hatchback look sharper and feel more upmarket, without moving it too far away from its value-focused positioning.

One of the biggest highlights is the addition of premium technology such as a 360-degree surround view system with blind view monitor. This is a feature generally seen in higher-segment cars, and its inclusion in a hatchback strengthens Tiago’s positioning as a feature-rich small car.

The cabin has also been updated to offer a more modern experience. Tata Motors has worked on the overall interior layout, connected technology and convenience features to make the Tiago feel more relevant for younger buyers and urban families.

Petrol, CNG And Electric — One Hatchback, Multiple Choices

The Next Gen Tiago range continues to offer flexibility through multiple powertrain options. Buyers can choose between petrol, iCNG and electric versions, making the Tiago one of the few hatchbacks in India to offer such a wide fuel choice.

The petrol and iCNG variants are available with manual and AMT transmission options. This is important because the demand for affordable automatic cars has grown steadily, especially in urban markets where traffic conditions make AMTs a practical choice. The iCNG version starts at ₹5.79 lakh, making it a strong option for buyers looking for lower running costs without moving to an EV.

Tiago.ev Gets Bigger Ownership Push

The Tiago.ev has also received important updates. Tata Motors says the EV now gets enhanced fast charging capability, with the ability to add up to 100 km of range in 18 minutes. This directly addresses one of the biggest concerns among budget EV buyers — charging convenience.

Another major highlight is the lifetime high-voltage battery warranty on select versions. This can improve buyer confidence, especially for first-time EV customers who are still unsure about long-term battery life and replacement costs. The Tiago.ev will continue to offer multiple battery pack options, giving buyers the flexibility to choose as per their driving needs and budget.

Safety Remains A Key Focus

Safety has been one of Tata Motors’ strongest brand pillars, and the Next Gen Tiago continues that approach. The Tiago.ev gets six airbags as standard along with electronic stability systems, while the ICE and iCNG versions get premium safety and visibility tech such as the 360-degree surround view camera and blind view display.

This makes the Tiago a strong consideration for buyers who want an affordable hatchback but do not want to compromise on safety and technology.

Auto Punditz Take

The Next Gen Tiago is an important update because it comes at a time when hatchbacks need stronger differentiation to stay relevant. Tata Motors has not treated the Tiago as just an entry-level product. Instead, it has added technology, safety and EV ownership benefits that make the hatchback feel more premium than its price suggests.

The ₹4.69 lakh starting price gives Tata a strong entry point, while the Tiago.ev’s ₹6.99 lakh price and lifetime battery warranty can help attract buyers who are considering their first electric car.

For Tata Motors, the Tiago range now acts as a bridge between traditional budget hatchback buyers and new-age customers looking for smart, safe and low-running-cost mobility.

The Next Gen Tata Tiago and Tiago.ev bring a meaningful refresh to one of India’s most practical hatchbacks. With petrol, CNG and electric options, updated technology, stronger safety features and aggressive pricing, Tata Motors is trying to keep the hatchback format relevant in a market increasingly dominated by SUVs. The biggest advantage of the new Tiago is its flexibility. Whether a buyer wants a budget petrol car, a low-running-cost CNG hatchback or an affordable EV, Tata now has one product family covering all three needs.
