The Indian automotive industry continues to cement its position as a formidable global export hub. As we look at the passenger vehicle export data for the period of April 2025 to February 2026, the numbers tell a story of surging global demand, the triumph of compact SUVs, and the undeniable dominance of a few key players.

With total shipments across the top 10 models showing robust year-over-year (YOY) growth, here is a detailed breakdown of the cars driving India’s export success.
The Top 3: Maruti Suzuki’s Reign and Hyundai’s Sedan Push
1. Maruti Suzuki Fronx Taking the undisputed crown is the Maruti Suzuki Fronx. Exporting a massive 82,384 units (up from 61,579 units the previous year), the Fronx registered a stellar 33.8% YOY growth. Its crossover appeal, striking design, and competitive pricing have clearly struck a chord in international markets, making it India's proudest export this fiscal year.
2. Maruti Suzuki Jimny Right behind the Fronx is its rugged sibling, the Jimny. With 65,471 units exported, the Jimny saw an impressive 49.3% growth over the previous year's 43,860 units. This cements the fact that the global appetite for lightweight, capable off-roaders is stronger than ever.
3. Hyundai Verna Breaking the Maruti Suzuki monopoly at the top is the Hyundai Verna, securing the third spot with 59,872 units. Boasting a 26.5% YOY growth, the Verna proves that the global demand for sleek, feature-rich sedans is still thriving despite the ongoing SUV craze.
The Star Performer: Nissan Magnite’s Triple-Digit Surge
While Maruti Suzuki took the top spots by volume, the true showstopper in terms of growth is the Nissan Magnite.
Securing the 4th rank, the Magnite shipped 51,501 units compared to just 20,434 units in the same period last year. This translates to an astronomical 152.0% YOY growth. Nissan’s strategy of leveraging its Indian plant as a primary export hub for the Magnite is paying massive dividends.
The Mid-Table Performers: Hatchbacks and Compact Sedans
The middle of the pack showcases a mix of iconic hatchbacks and practical sedans, highlighting the diverse needs of international markets:
5. Maruti Suzuki Swift: The legendary hatchback continues its global run with 49,319 units exported, marking a highly robust 57.6% YOY growth.
6. Hyundai Grand i10: A consistent performer, exporting 48,108 units with a healthy 17.3% YOY growth.
7. Hyundai Aura: The compact sedan clocked 37,840 units, growing by a solid 30.7%.
The Outlier and The New Wave
8. Maruti Suzuki Baleno (-4.6% YOY): The Baleno is the only vehicle in the Top 10 to witness a decline. Shipments dropped slightly from 39,212 units to 37,409 units. This could point to shifting consumer preferences in its target export markets or supply chain realignments.
9. Maruti Suzuki Dzire (+39.1% YOY): Bouncing back for the brand, the Dzire saw strong demand, exporting 37,285 units compared to last year's 26,804.
10. Toyota Hyryder (+41.7% YOY): Rounding out the top 10 is Toyota's Hyryder with 36,785 units. Its strong growth indicates a rising global appetite for reliable, hybrid-powered SUVs manufactured in India.
