The Tata Nexon emerged as India's best-selling car for January 2026, with 23,365 units sold across petrol, diesel, and electric versions. The model sold an impressive 52% higher than the same period last year. The revision in the GST structure has largely impacted sub-4m models, and the compact SUVs have become more attractive than ever!
Maruti's Dzire continues to be a favorite among both private buyers and fleet operators due to its fuel efficiency and comfort. The model ranked second in January 2026 and was the only sedan in the Top 10 selling cars. Tata Punch, another compact SUV, secured the 3rd spot with impressive volumes of 19,257 units and was boosted by renewed customer interest following its recent facelift.
At Rank 4, the Hyundai Creta sold 17,921 units, maintaining its position as one of India’s most trusted mid-size SUVs. Despite increased competition, Creta’s brand equity and feature-rich offering keep it firmly among the top sellers. Also note that Maruti's Victoris also places itself in the Top 10 with dispatches of 15,240 units in Jan'26.
