3 min read

Toyota recorded 25,027 units in September 2026, down 7.61% year-on-year from 27,089 units in September 2025. Sales also declined 11.91% month-on-month from 28,410 units in August 2026.

The Innova range and Hyryder continued to account for the majority of Toyota’s volumes, while growth in the Rumion, Taisor and Fortuner partially offset declines elsewhere.

  • Innova + Hycross: The combined Innova range led Toyota’s sales with 8,008 units, contributing 32% of the brand’s monthly total. However, volumes declined 18% YoY and 12% MoM, translating into 1,775 fewer units than September last year.

  • Hyryder: Ranked second with 7,115 units, down 6% YoY and 14% MoM. Together, the Hyryder and Innova range contributed 60.4% of Toyota’s September volumes, highlighting their importance to the brand.

  • Fortuner: Sales increased 14% YoY to 3,185 units, compared with 2,783 units a year earlier. Monthly volumes, however, fell 9% from August’s 3,504 units.

  • Taisor: Recorded 3,097 units, delivering growth of 35% YoY and 8% MoM. It finished just 88 units behind the Fortuner, with an annual volume gain of 800 units.

  • Rumion: Was Toyota’s strongest percentage gainer among models with a non-zero year-ago base, rising 199% YoY to 2,481 units. Sales nearly tripled from 829 units and increased 9% over August. Its addition of 1,652 unitswas also the largest absolute YoY gain in Toyota’s portfolio.

  • Hilux: Registered 376 units, up 72% YoY and 27% MoM, recording growth across both comparisons.

  • Camry: Sales rose to 240 units, an increase of 75% YoY and 23% MoM, albeit on a relatively small base.

  • Glanza: Recorded the sharpest decline, with sales falling 94% YoY to 189 units from 3,299 units. Volumes also dropped 87% MoM. Its 3,110-unit annual decline was the largest negative contribution to Toyota’s overall performance.

  • Ebella: Recorded 166 units, down 55% from 372 units in August. A YoY growth percentage cannot be calculated against the zero units listed for September 2025.

  • Vellfire: Posted 112 units, up 5% YoY and 42% MoM, compared with 107 units a year earlier and 79 units in August.

  • LC300: Recorded 58 units, growing 115% YoY and doubling its August volume of 29 units. The high percentage growth reflects its small comparison base.

Auto Punditz Take

Toyota’s September decline was concentrated in the Glanza, Innova range and Hyryder. Together, these models lost 5,378 units YoY, while gains across the remaining portfolio offset 3,316 units of that reduction.

The Rumion and Taisor provided meaningful support, adding a combined 2,452 units YoY. However, Toyota’s dependence on the Innova range and Hyryder meant that growth elsewhere could not fully compensate for their declines and the steep fall in Glanza volumes. The supplied figures do not establish the reasons for these changes; attributing them to demand, production or inventory movements would require further evidence.
