The Top 10 selling Hatchbacks in had a total volume of about 5,85,763 units. This was a strong growth of about 2.6L units over Last Year same period. We did see in the recent month of June, where Maruti dominated the top 10 segment. However, If we look at year till date trend, Maruti has 6 out of the top 10, followed by Hyundai which has 2 out of the top 10 and Tata Motors has 2 out of the top 10.
Swift retained the rank1 spot and crossed the 1Lakh range. this is almost double of what swift sold during the last year same time. And at the same time, this is almost equal to the volume of LLY.
Maruti's WagonR and Baleno come in next, with 94k and 93k volumes respectively. Both the models have almost doubled their numbers over LY. And have also registered strong growth over LLY volumes.
Alto came in 4th along with Ignis and Celerio at 9th and 10th positions respectively. All the models have shown growth over LY , however Alto has a sharp fall over LLY. Celerio is understandably slowed down, due to the refresh model being round the corner.
The Two cars from Hyundai the i10 and i20, managed 9.61% share and 7.06% share in the top 10 respectively . This was again a strong growth over LY . However, when we look at LLY volumes, i10 has grown marginally, but i20 has registered a degrowth.
The two hatchbacks from TATA, Altroz and Tiago have made it to the top 10 list for this year. Altroz got a market share of 6.43% in the top 10 hatchbacks and Tiago got a market share of 5.93% in the top 10. Both have registered growth in volumes over LY by over 20k numbers.
