Volkswagen Sales July 2026 – Virtus Leads With 1,420 Units; Total Dispatches Fall 15% YoY
Volkswagen India recorded 2,715 unit dispatches in July 2026, registering a 15% year-on-year decline compared with 3,212 units dispatched in July 2025. However, the German carmaker witnessed a sequential recovery, with volumes improving 10% month-on-month from 2,467 units in June 2026.
The Volkswagen Virtus continued to remain the brand’s highest-selling model during the month, followed closely by the Taigun. Volkswagen’s premium portfolio comprising the Tayron, Tiguan and Golf contributed relatively small volumes.

Virtus retained its position as Volkswagen India’s volume leader, recording dispatches of 1,420 units in July 2026. Compared with 1,797 units in July 2025, Virtus volumes declined 21% year-on-year. Sequentially, however, the sedan registered a healthy recovery of 19% from 1,195 units dispatched in June 2026.
Volkswagen dispatched 1,225 units of the Taigun during July 2026, making it the brand’s second-highest selling model. Volumes declined 8% YoY from 1,327 units recorded in July 2025. On a month-on-month basis, however, Taigun dispatches increased by around 4% compared with 1,182 units in June 2026.
Together, the Virtus and Taigun contributed 2,645 units, accounting for approximately 97% of Volkswagen India’s total dispatches during July. This underlines the continued importance of Volkswagen’s India 2.0 products to its domestic operations.
Volkswagen Tayron registered 45 units in July 2026, marginally higher than the 43 units dispatched during June.
Volkswagen Tiguan recorded dispatches of just 23 units in July 2026, compared with 28 units during July 2025, translating into an 18% YoY decline. Compared with 47 units dispatched in June, volumes fell 51% month-on-month.
Volkswagen dispatched only 2 units of the Golf in July 2026, compared with 60 units during July 2025.
Outlook
Volkswagen India’s July 2026 performance presents a mixed picture. Overall volumes remained 15% lower than a year earlier, with both the Virtus and Taigun recording year-on-year declines. However, the 10% sequential improvement indicates better momentum compared with June.
The company continues to remain heavily dependent on the Virtus and Taigun for volumes, while its premium models operate in comparatively niche segments. With both core models showing month-on-month improvement in July, sustaining this momentum through the coming months will be important for Volkswagen as it attempts to strengthen its position in India’s highly competitive passenger vehicle market.
