Nissan is not leaving ‘Datsun’ brand for sure and teases the upcoming redi-GO facelift.
Datsun has revealed the teaser images of the upcoming facelift of its best selling hatch – redi-GO. Basis the teaser images the upcoming model shall have a revised front fascia, wear a bigger grille, new set of headlamps, elongated L-shaped DRLs, new wheel caps and obviously a BS6 engine.
Nissan says that the updated redi-GO shall offer bold, progressive and sporty exteriors along with best in class features and advanced technology. The Datsun redi-Go used the same platform as the Renault Kwid which is primarily the Renault-Nissan Common Module Family (CMF-A) Even the powertrain is same – a 0.8-litre petrol engine with a 54 hp power output and 72 Nm torque, coupled to a 5-speed manual transmission. In addition to the 0.8 litre engine, the redi-Go was also available in 1.0-litre engine specification. Datsun redi-Go Sales Performance till date –
Around 83,342 Datsun redi-Go has been sold in the Indian market till date.
The model was unveiled in April 2016 and is sale in the Indian subcontinent since May 2016.
Redi-GO sales has seen a consistent decline since FY18 and speculation was on that Nissan may kill Datsun brand owing to low sales.
There was a delay in announcement of BS6 models from Datsun which fueled the speculations even higher.
However; the recent announcement from Nissan assures that the brand survives and shall see a BS6 avatar as well. The model shall bear a new exterior and updated features too.
