Ducati has launched the all-new 2026 Monster in India, bringing the fifth generation of its iconic naked motorcycle to the country. Prices for the new Ducati Monster start at ₹13.99 lakh (ex-showroom), with the range extending up to ₹14.45 lakh depending on the variant and colour.
The latest-generation Monster represents a substantial update over its predecessor, featuring Ducati's newer 890cc V2 engine, a lighter chassis, revised styling and a more comprehensive electronics package.
Alongside the motorcycle, Ducati has also introduced Ducati Protect, a periodic maintenance programme aimed at making service costs more predictable for Monster owners.

2026 Ducati Monster Price in India
The new Monster is available in Monster and Monster+ versions, with Ducati Red, Iceberg White and Sport Livery colour options.
Prices start at ₹13.99 lakh and extend up to ₹14.45 lakh, ex-showroom.
The Monster+ differentiates itself with additional styling equipment including a flyscreen and passenger seat cover, giving the motorcycle a sportier appearance.
The Sport Livery is particularly distinctive, taking inspiration from the iconic Ducati Monster S4. It combines grey bodywork with Racing Red elements across the wheels and other detailing.
New 890cc V2 Engine Produces 111 PS
One of the biggest changes to the fifth-generation Monster is under the fuel tank.
Ducati has replaced the previous Testastretta 11° engine with its newer 890cc V2 engine, which is also used across some of the company's latest-generation motorcycles.
The liquid-cooled V-twin produces:
Maximum power: 111 PS at 9,000 rpm
Peak torque: 91.1 Nm at 7,250 rpm
Transmission: 6-speed
Quickshifter: Ducati Quick Shift 2.0
The engine incorporates Ducati's Intake Variable Timing system to improve the spread of torque across the rev range.
Another important development is the maintenance interval. Ducati specifies valve-clearance checks at 45,000 km, potentially making the new Monster considerably easier to live with for riders covering longer distances.
New Ducati Monster Is 4 kg Lighter
Weight reduction has been another major focus of the new generation.
The 2026 Ducati Monster weighs 175 kg without fuel, making it around 4 kg lighter than the previous-generation motorcycle.
Ducati has achieved the reduction through changes to the engine, chassis, swingarm, wheels and other components.
The lighter construction should complement the Monster's traditional focus on agile road handling rather than outright superbike-style performance.
Panigale-Inspired Chassis Architecture
The new Monster continues with an aluminium monocoque-style chassis architecture in which the engine acts as a stressed member.
The frame is attached directly to the cylinder heads, while the motorcycle gets a lightweight rear subframe and a new double-sided swingarm whose design draws inspiration from the Panigale V4.
The combination is intended to reduce mass while retaining the rigidity required for sporty riding.
Showa Suspension and Brembo Brakes
Suspension duties are handled by Showa components.
At the front is a 43 mm upside-down fork, while the rear uses a Showa monoshock with preload adjustment.
Braking hardware comes from Brembo.
The front receives dual 320 mm brake discs with Brembo radial-mount calipers, while the rear uses a single disc.
The motorcycle rides on 17-inch alloy wheels fitted with Pirelli Diablo Rosso IV tyres.
These components underline the Monster's positioning as a road-focused performance naked motorcycle.
Advanced 6-Axis IMU Electronics
The electronics package has also received a major upgrade.
At its heart is a six-axis Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) that allows several rider aids to operate while accounting for the motorcycle's lean and pitch.
The electronics suite includes:
Cornering ABSProvides lean-sensitive anti-lock braking intervention.
Ducati Traction ControlAdjusts intervention according to available grip and selected settings.
Ducati Wheelie ControlHelps manage front-wheel lift during hard acceleration.
Engine Brake ControlAllows engine-braking characteristics to be adjusted.
Ducati Quick Shift 2.0Enables clutchless upshifts and downshifts.
The Monster offers four Riding Modes – Sport, Road, Urban and Wet – allowing riders to alter the motorcycle's behaviour according to road and weather conditions.
New 5-Inch TFT Instrument Cluster
Another noticeable upgrade is the new 5-inch TFT instrument console, replacing the
smaller display used on the previous-generation bike.
The interface provides access to riding modes, electronic rider aids and other vehicle settings while giving the cockpit a more modern appearance.
The electronics can also be customised, allowing riders to select different levels of ABS,
traction control, wheelie control and engine-braking intervention.
More Accessible Ergonomics
Despite its performance credentials, Ducati has worked on making the Monster easier to manage.
The standard seat height is approximately 815 mm, while accessory options can bring it down further.
Combined with the motorcycle's 175 kg weight, this should make the Monster relatively approachable by middleweight premium motorcycle standards.
The riding position remains characteristically Monster – upright enough for everyday road use while retaining a sporty relationship between the handlebar, seat and footpegs.
Ducati Protect Maintenance Plans Introduced
Alongside the new Monster, Ducati India has introduced a new Periodic Maintenance Contract called Ducati Protect.
Two packages are being offered.
Ducati Protect Plus – ₹30,999
The Plus plan provides periodic maintenance coverage for:
2 years or 15,000 km, whichever comes first.
Ducati Protect Pro – ₹54,999
The more comprehensive Pro plan extends the coverage to:
4 years or 30,000 km, whichever comes first.
Both packages include applicable parts and labour for scheduled periodic maintenance at authorised Ducati dealerships, giving owners greater visibility over servicing expenditure during the initial ownership period.
The programme could be particularly relevant in the premium motorcycle segment, where maintenance costs are often an important consideration beyond the initial purchase price.
Fifth Generation of an Iconic Ducati
The Monster name dates back to 1993 and has become one of Ducati's most recognisable model families.
Rather than radically changing the formula, the fifth-generation motorcycle continues the Monster philosophy of combining a powerful V-twin engine with relatively minimalist bodywork and a lightweight chassis.
The latest version, however, incorporates considerably more sophisticated electronics and the company's newer-generation V2 powertrain.
Visually, the motorcycle retains the characteristic muscular fuel tank and exposed mechanical elements associated with the Monster while adopting sharper surfaces and a more compact overall appearance.

Auto Punditz Take
The fifth-generation Monster represents one of the most comprehensive updates to Ducati's iconic naked motorcycle in recent years.
While the ₹13.99 lakh starting price keeps it firmly in premium territory, Ducati has added meaningful improvements rather than relying solely on cosmetic changes.
The 890cc V2 engine, 4 kg reduction in weight, six-axis IMU electronics and substantially longer 45,000 km valve-clearance interval strengthen the Monster's case as a motorcycle that can combine weekend performance with everyday usability.
The introduction of Ducati Protect is also noteworthy. Predictable scheduled maintenance costs could help address one of the traditional concerns associated with owning a premium European motorcycle in India.
Most importantly, Ducati hasn't abandoned the basic Monster formula. The 2026 model remains a relatively lightweight, powerful V-twin naked motorcycle – only now with more sophisticated electronics, lower weight and one of Ducati's newest engines.
With prices starting at ₹13.99 lakh, the new Monster will compete in India's increasingly sophisticated middleweight and litre-class premium naked motorcycle segment, where performance, electronics and brand appeal are becoming equally important purchase considerations.
