Key Takeaways
July 2026 was characterised by broad-based growth across hatchbacks, sedans, MPVs and SUVs. The Dzire took the overall lead, while the Wagon R, Ertiga and Swift demonstrated that Maruti Suzuki’s traditional high-volume models remain extremely relevant.
At the same time, the Tata Punch’s near-doubling of volumes underlined the continued strength of compact SUVs. The strong growth recorded by the Kia Seltos, Maruti Alto, Fronx and Baleno further indicates improved demand and higher vehicle dispatches ahead of India’s festive season.
Maruti Suzuki’s 11 entries gave it an overwhelming numerical advantage, but the strong performance of Tata Punch, Hyundai Creta, Mahindra Scorpio and Kia Seltos showed that competition across the Indian passenger vehicle market remains intense.
