Auto Punditz Outlook

The Indian MUV segment entered the second half of 2026 on a strong note, with sales rising by more than 21% year-on-year. Demand remained heavily concentrated around practical and relatively accessible family vehicles, led overwhelmingly by the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga.

The growth of the XL6 and Rumion suggests that customers are also exploring differentiated alternatives built around similar three-row utility-car formats. Meanwhile, the entry of the Nissan Gravite has introduced fresh competition in the affordable end of the market.

With the festive season approaching, MUV volumes could remain strong as manufacturers increase dispatches and customers prioritise spacious vehicles suited to larger families and long-distance travel.
