1. Maruti Suzuki Swift – 1,54,993 units (6.3%)
The Swift continues its dominance as India’s favorite petrol hatchback with dispatches of over 1.54 Lakh units for the Petrol Trims in FY2026.
2. Maruti Suzuki Baleno – 1,49,332 units (6.1%)
A leader in the premium hatchback space, the Baleno benefits from Nexa positioning and ranked second in the list.
3. Maruti Suzuki Fronx – 1,17,558 units (4.8%)
It is nothing but Baleno on steroids, but has a good appeal among buyers and ranked third.
4. Maruti Suzuki Brezza – 1,08,775 units (4.4%)
One of the most popular and powerful petrol Sub4m-SUVs, the Brezza continues to deliver reliability and brand trust.
5. Hyundai Creta – 1,04,451 units (4.2%)
A segment benchmark, the Creta remains a top choice for petrol SUV buyers seeking premium features and comfort.
6. Tata Punch – 99,395 units (4.0%)
The Punch appeals strongly to first-time buyers and ranked sixth in FY26.
7. Maruti Suzuki Dzire – 93,800 units (3.8%)
Interestingly, the Dzire was also India’s overall best-selling car in FY2026 (~2.3 lakh units), showing that petrol sedans still have relevance.
8. Hyundai Venue – 93,586 units (3.8%)
A feature-rich compact SUV with strong urban appeal.
9. Tata Nexon – 90,100 units (3.7%)
While Nexon leads overall SUV sales (~2.16 lakh units), petrol variants contribute significantly to its mix.
10. Maruti Suzuki Alto – 86,371 units (3.5%)
India’s entry-level mobility champion continues to deliver volumes in rural and semi-urban markets.
