The Indian passenger vehicle market recorded a strong year-on-year performance in June 2026, with total sales rising to 3,91,968 units, compared to 3,11,559 units in June 2025. This translated into a healthy 25.8% YoY growth, indicating sustained demand momentum across major OEMs.
However, on a month-on-month basis, the market declined by 11.1% from 4,40,808 units in May 2026, reflecting a correction after a stronger previous month. The June performance was still notable as several OEMs posted robust annual gains, while the market share battle among the top four players became sharper.

Maruti Suzuki continued to remain India’s largest passenger vehicle manufacturer in June 2026 with sales of 1,47,187 units. The company registered a strong 23.8% YoY growth over 1,18,906 units sold in June 2025. Despite the volume growth, Maruti’s market share slipped slightly from 38.2% in June 2025 to 37.6% in June 2026, a decline of 0.6 percentage points. On a MoM basis, Maruti’s sales fell sharply by 22.7% from 1,90,337 units in May 2026, which significantly impacted the overall industry’s monthly performance.
Tata Motors delivered one of the strongest performances of the month, selling 62,076 units in June 2026. This was a sharp 67.4% YoY growth over 37,083 units sold in June 2025. With this performance, Tata retained its second position and widened its presence in the Indian passenger vehicle market.
Mahindra was close behind Tata with 60,393 units in June 2026. The SUV specialist recorded a strong 46.9% YoY growth over 41,108 units sold in June 2025. Mahindra’s market share improved from 13.2% to 15.4%, a gain of 2.2 percentage points. The company also grew 4.1% MoM, compared to 58,021 units in May 2026.
Hyundai India sold 39,635 units in June 2026, down 10.0% YoY from 44,024 units in June 2025. The dispatches was impacted due to the fire incident at its vendor.
Toyota sold 28,441 units in June 2026, registering a 7.5% YoY growth over 26,453 units in June 2025. However, the brand declined 7.0% MoM from 30,574 units in May 2026. Toyota’s market share stood at 7.3%, down from 8.5% last year.
Kia India sold 24,552 units, up 19.0% YoY from 20,625 units in June 2025. However, its sales fell 11.0% MoM from 27,586 units in May 2026. Kia’s market share stood at 6.3%, marginally lower than 6.6% in June 2025.
MG Motor India recorded sales of 7,568 units, growing 29.8% YoY and 25.1% MoM. Its market share improved slightly to 1.9%.
Skoda sold 6,220 units, up 24.1% YoY and 8.0% MoM. The brand maintained its market share at 1.6%.
Honda sold 5,243 units, growing 13.5% YoY and 2.6% MoM. However, its market share declined marginally from 1.5% to 1.3%.
Renault delivered a strong YoY performance with 4,063 units, up 54.8% from 2,625 units in June 2025. However, it remained almost flat MoM, declining 1.2% from May 2026.
Nissan was the fastest-growing OEM in percentage terms in June 2026. The company sold 3,006 units, compared to 1,313 units in June 2025, registering a sharp 128.9% YoY growth.
Volkswagen sold 2,467 units in June 2026, down 20.1% YoY from 3,089 units in June 2025. It also declined 5.8% MoM. Its market share fell from 1.0% to 0.6%.
Jeep sold 240 units, down 8.4% YoY from 262 units in June 2025. However, it remained almost flat MoM, growing marginally by 0.4%.
Citroen sold 877 units, growing 43.8% YoY and 67.0% MoM, though its market share remained at 0.2%.
