Compact SUV Sales Analysis – September 2020

Compact SUV segment registered one of the highest YoY growth in September 2020. It grew a stupendous 42% in Sep’20 v/s Sep’19.
Kia Sonet was one of the biggest launch of the year and it entered the Indian market with a bang – It became the segment leader in just 12 days of its launch! While the model was launched on 18th Sep; Kia dispatched 9,266 units in the rest of the month. As per the OEM; it has already garnered over 35k bookings for the model.
Maruti is not going to make it easy either for Venue or Sonet – It did sell an impressive 9,153 units in Sep’20 and ranked second in the segment. However; the model still lost -12% volumes in Sep’20 v/s Sep’19
The highlight of the segment was Tata Nexon – It recorded a YoY growth of 111% and outsold XUV300/Ecosport by a huge margin. Nexon’s USP as India’s safest car and also ‘Vocal for Local’ campaign is giving positive results for the model.
