Construction Equipment Sales for January 2021

Auto Punditz has always strived hard to cover all segments of the Indian Automobile Industry and this time we are happy to share that the Construction Equipment Sales Statistics is being shared for the first time! We present the Excavator, Compactor and Backhoe Loader domestic sales statistics in India for January 2021 in this post.

January 2021 Excavator Sales -

• The Excavator industry has grown by 17% YoY in Jan'21 vs Jan'20

• With sales of 2,685 units in Jan'21, the market was dominated by Tata Hitachi with 23% Market Share

• Hyundai ranked second with 19% Market Share and was closely followed by JCB at 18% Market Share

• Sany Excavators ranked fourth and was able to sell 408 units in Jan'21

• The growth in Excavator sales is a clear indication that Infra projects are on rising and no major impact on the Industry despite the steel price hike

January 2021 Compactor Sales -

• The Compactor Industry in India was dominated by Case and Hamm in Jan'21 with a combined market share of 50%

• Overall 547 units of Compactors were sold in India for Jan'21. Do note that the Industry has started moving up and grown by 8.3% from Jan'20

• The Industry is all geared up to reach 625 units peak by March'21, much above the earlier 2018 peak

January 2021 Backhoe Loader Sales -

• Backhoe Loader Industry registered sales of 6,196 units in Jan'21 and was 28% higher than Jan'20.

• JCB alone had >80% sales in the segment and sold 5,098 units in Jan 2021.

• Case ranked second and could sell only 334 units in Jan'21 with a 5% Market Share.

• Tata Hitachi & Bull sold 141 units & 134 units accordingly. They were followed by Caterpillar and Escorts for fifth and sixth positions.

• The other brands in the segment were Ace, Mahindra, Manitou and Bobcat.
