Electric Two-Wheeler Registrations Surge 75.5% in June 2026; TVS Retains Lead, Bajaj Closes In, Hero Vida Emerges as Fastest Growing Major Brand

India's electric two-wheeler (E2W) market continued its remarkable growth trajectory in June 2026, with Vahan registrations touching 1,94,300 units, registering an impressive 75.5% year-on-year (YoY) growth over 1,10,721 units sold in June 2025. On a sequential basis, the market also expanded 12.6% month-on-month (MoM) from 1,72,623 units recorded in May 2026.

The latest Vahan registration data highlights that while TVS Motor retained its leadership, Bajaj Auto significantly narrowed the gap, Ather strengthened its third position, and Hero Vida emerged as one of the biggest gainers in terms of both growth and market share. On the other hand, Ola Electric remained the only major OEM among the top six to report a YoY decline, leading to a sharp erosion in market share. The overall growth aligns with broader strength in India's retail EV market during June, aided by improving consumer demand and higher fuel prices.

Auto Punditz Take

June 2026 further demonstrates the rapid evolution of India's electric two-wheeler market. Unlike previous years when a handful of startups dominated the segment, the market is now witnessing strong participation from established manufacturers such as TVS, Bajaj, Hero MotoCorp and Honda, alongside specialist EV brands like Ather and River.

The biggest story of the month remains Hero Vida's explosive growth and Ola Electric's continued market share erosion. TVS and Bajaj have established themselves as clear front-runners, while Ather continues to strengthen its premium positioning.

With rising fuel prices, expanding charging infrastructure, improving product quality and increasing consumer confidence, India's electric two-wheeler segment appears well-positioned to sustain its growth momentum through the remainder of 2026.
