Why It Matters
The Luce is not just Ferrari’s first EV — it is also its first five-seater, aimed at ultra-rich families who want Ferrari performance with everyday usability. The model has been developed with design input from former Apple design chief Jony Ive and his collective LoveFrom.
Unlike most modern EVs that go fully digital, Ferrari has retained premium materials and physical controls inside the cabin. The interior uses leather, glass and anodised aluminium, helping it feel more like a luxury Ferrari than a touchscreen-heavy tech product.
Ferrari’s Biggest Challenge
Ferrari’s challenge is emotional. A Ferrari has always been about engine sound, drama and mechanical feel. With the Luce, the company is trying to recreate some of that connection by amplifying natural vibration sounds from the EV powertrain.
Auto Punditz Take
The Ferrari Luce shows that even the world’s most emotional car brands cannot ignore electrification. But Ferrari is not chasing mass-market EV buyers. Instead, it is creating a new ultra-luxury EV category where performance, design, exclusivity and brand value matter more than price.
For India, the Luce will remain a rare import if launched, but its global importance is huge: it signals that the next decade of supercars will be defined not only by horsepower, but also by how successfully brands can make EVs desirable.
