A new Electric car Zeekr has been developed by Geely the Chinese Car Giant which also owns Volvo, Lotus, and Lynk&Co. Zeekr will compete with Tesla. Zeekr will be a world brand, for expansion.
Geely’s new electric Sustainable Experience Architecture (SEA) will be used for Zeekr as also for the future models from the sister firms: Volvo, Polestar, and Lyn&Co. Deliveries of the first Zeekr vehicle will begin in China in the latter part of 2021. Zeekr, which will be known as Ji Ke in China, is intended to “serve growing global demand for premium electric vehicles”.
Geely has committed to launching a new EV every year for the next five years.
Global Expansion Plans
Initially, Zeekr will focus on the Chinese market while exploring export opportunities in satisfying the global demand for premium EVs.
There will be a focus on innovation and also an innovative approach to developing an innovative approach to sales and servicing. Geely has already sold 1.3 million cars in China, in 2020, and is thus the world's biggest brand in China, for the fourth consecutive year and China is the world's biggest new-car market.
Geely has also sold nearly 73,000 cars in the other parts of the world – a 25% growth YoY. The other Premium brand Lynk&Co too has sold more than 1,75,000 cars: + 37% over 2019; and is expanding into a number of European nations.
