Hyundai Motor India registers 17.7% year-on-year growth in October 2026, with record domestic dispatches, stronger exports and the Venue achieving its best-ever monthly sales.

Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) has reported its highest-ever monthly sales of 82,299 units in October 2026, registering an impressive 17.7% year-on-year (YoY) growth. The milestone was supported by strong festive-season demand, record domestic volumes and healthy export performance.

Domestic sales reached an all-time high of 62,799 units, growing 16.7% YoY, while exports increased 21.1% to 19,500 units. The Hyundai Venue was one of the biggest contributors to the company's performance, recording its highest-ever monthly domestic sales of 13,017 units. The compact SUV accounted for over one-fifth of Hyundai's domestic dispatches during October.

The performance also marks a new monthly benchmark for Hyundai, surpassing its previous record of 77,916 units registered in September 2026.

Figures represent Hyundai Motor India's company-reported domestic dispatches and exports. MoM growth is calculated from September and October volumes.

Hyundai's domestic business delivered stronger sequential growth than its export operations. While domestic dispatches rose by 5,633 units compared with September, exports declined by 1,250 units. Consequently, total monthly volumes increased by 4,383 units, or approximately 5.6% month-on-month (MoM).

Hyundai Venue Sets a New Monthly Sales Record

The Hyundai Venue emerged as a significant growth driver during October 2026, achieving its highest-ever monthly domestic volume of 13,017 units. The strong performance underlines the compact SUV's importance in Hyundai's Indian passenger vehicle portfolio, particularly in the competitive sub-four-metre SUV segment. The Venue accounted for approximately 20.7% of Hyundai's domestic sales, meaning more than one in every five Hyundai vehicles dispatched in India during October was a Venue.

Venue Sales Highlights

  • October 2026 sales: 13,017 units

  • Monthly performance: Highest ever since launch

  • Share of Hyundai domestic sales: 20.7%

  • Average daily dispatches: Approximately 420 units

  • Segment: Sub-four-metre compact SUV

The Venue's performance is especially relevant as Hyundai recently inaugurated its Pune manufacturing plant, where the all-new Venue is produced. Hyundai has also outlined plans to export the SUV to more than 35 international markets.

Domestic Sales Reach a New Peak at 62,799 Units

Hyundai's domestic dispatches climbed to 62,799 units in October 2026, marking an increase of 16.7% over the same month last year. The month benefited from the festive purchasing period, with increased demand supporting passenger vehicle dispatches.

Domestic volumes accounted for approximately 76.3% of Hyundai's overall sales, reinforcing India as the company's principal volume contributor. The sequential improvement is also noteworthy. Hyundai had recorded 54,396 domestic units in August and 57,166 units in September before reaching 62,799 units in October.

Hyundai Exports Grow 21.1% YoY Despite Sequential Decline

Hyundai exported 19,500 vehicles in October 2026, registering growth of 21.1% compared with the corresponding month last year. Exports contributed approximately 23.7% of the company's total October volumes.

Although exports declined 6% compared with September, the positive annual growth indicates continued overseas demand for vehicles manufactured at Hyundai's Indian facilities. India remains a strategic export and manufacturing hub for Hyundai, supported by its existing Chennai operations and the recently inaugurated Pune facility.

The Pune plant currently has an installed annual capacity of 1.70 lakh units, with plans to expand to 3.20 lakh units by 2030. Hyundai has announced investments of up to ₹11,000 crore in the facility.

Hyundai Bayon Could Support the Next Phase of Growth

Hyundai's newly launched Bayon is expected to strengthen the company's SUV portfolio and provide an additional growth opportunity in the coming months. Launched in India on October 26, 2026, at a starting ex-showroom price of ₹9.99 lakh, the Bayon introduces new technology and safety features alongside a familiar 1.5-litre petrol powertrain. Hyundai has confirmed plans to export the India-manufactured Bayon to more than 50 international markets.

The new SUV could help Hyundai broaden its domestic customer base while also supporting the company's export ambitions. However, with the launch taking place towards the end of October, its contribution to the month's record sales cannot yet be established from the available data.

Auto Punditz Take – Can Hyundai Sustain Its Record Sales Momentum?

Hyundai's October 2026 performance signals a strong recovery in domestic dispatches, supported by favourable festive demand and the continued importance of its SUV portfolio.

Three developments stand out from the sales figures.

  1. Venue is becoming an increasingly important volume driver

With 13,017 units dispatched during October, the Venue contributed nearly 21% of Hyundai's domestic volumes. Its performance demonstrates the importance of the compact SUV segment to Hyundai's overall business.

  1. Export diversification remains a competitive advantage

Hyundai's exports grew faster than its domestic volumes on a year-on-year basis. Although overseas shipments declined sequentially, the company's established export operations provide an additional avenue for growth beyond the Indian market.

  1. The next challenge is sustaining demand beyond the festive season

October's record is encouraging, but maintaining this momentum during the less festive months will be the bigger test. The recently launched Bayon, expanded Pune manufacturing operations and Hyundai's upcoming mass-market electric vehicle could provide additional opportunities.

Hyundai has indicated that its dedicated mass-market EV is planned for the fourth quarter of FY27. This should further expand the company's presence in India's increasingly competitive electric passenger vehicle market.

An important distinction is that Hyundai's reported domestic sales represent wholesale dispatches rather than customer retail registrations. Sustained growth in retail deliveries, inventory management and profitability will ultimately determine how durable the October performance proves to be.

Conclusion

October 2026 represents a significant milestone for Hyundai Motor India, with record total sales of 82,299 units, record domestic dispatches of 62,799 units and the Venue achieving its strongest monthly performance since launch.

The company has surpassed September's record by 4,383 units while simultaneously delivering double-digit annual growth in domestic sales and exports. With the Bayon joining its SUV portfolio and additional manufacturing capacity coming online, Hyundai appears well positioned to pursue further growth. The key question is whether the company can translate its festive-season momentum into consistent volumes through the remainder of FY27.
