Hyundai Confirms Localised Mass-Market Electric SUV on Dedicated EV Platform for India
Hyundai Motor India has officially confirmed that it will launch a localised, mass-market electric SUV built on a dedicated EV platform. The upcoming model will be developed for Indian customers and is expected to arrive by 2027.
The confirmation came as Hyundai announced an expansion of its charging and after-sales infrastructure on World EV Day. While the company has not disclosed the production name, battery specifications, range or pricing, the announcement confirms that the vehicle will be a purpose-built electric SUV rather than an electric version of an existing petrol model. Hyundai had earlier committed to introducing an India-focused EV supported by a localised supply chain.

Its “mass-market” positioning indicates that Hyundai will target considerably higher volumes than it does with the Ioniq 5. Competitive pricing will depend heavily on localisation of the battery pack, power electronics and other high-value EV components.
Hyundai Expands EV Charging and Service Network
Alongside the product confirmation, Hyundai inaugurated new 120kW DC fast-charging stations in New Delhi in partnership with Statiq.
The manufacturer has also outlined an extensive EV-readiness programme:

Hyundai currently operates 183 DC fast-charging stations and intends to expand this figure to 600 by 2030. Its partnership with Jio-bp also gives customers access to more than 37,000 charging points through the myHyundai application.
