Mahindra & Mahindra’s core tractor business remained India's largest tractor player in July 2026, recording 26,863 registrations, up from 20,617 units in July last year. Volumes consequently increased by 30.3% YoY. Its market share also improved marginally from 22.51% in July 2025 to 22.89% in July 2026.
The company’s Swaraj Division delivered an even stronger performance. Swaraj registrations increased from 16,733 units to 22,334 units, representing growth of approximately 33.5%. Swaraj's market share expanded from 18.27% to 19.03%.
Combined, Mahindra Tractor and Swaraj registered an impressive 49,197 tractors during July 2026, versus 37,350 units a year earlier. Their combined market share reached approximately 41.92%, compared with 40.77% in July 2025. This means that more than four out of every ten tractors registered during the month came from Mahindra's two tractor businesses.
International Tractors Limited, associated with the Sonalika tractor brand, remained the third-largest player with 15,991 registrations. Volumes increased by 24.7% YoY from 12,824 units in July 2025. However, because its growth was slightly below the overall industry's 28.1% expansion, its market share declined from 14.00% to 13.63%.
One of the standout performances came from TAFE Limited, which registered 14,178 tractors, compared with 9,655 units in July 2025. That represents a substantial 46.8% year-on-year increase, considerably ahead of the overall tractor market. As a result, TAFE's market share climbed from 10.54% to 12.08%, an improvement of 1.54 percentage points.
Escorts Kubota also significantly outperformed the overall market. Retail registrations rose from 9,202 units in July 2025 to 12,782 units in July 2026, translating into approximately 38.9% YoY growth. Its market share consequently improved from 10.05% to 10.89%.
John Deere India registered 8,087 tractors during July 2026, compared with 6,986 units in the corresponding month last year. While this represented healthy 15.8% YoY growth, it was substantially below overall industry growth. Consequently, John Deere's market share slipped from 7.63% in July 2025 to 6.89% in July 2026.
Eicher Tractors recorded 7,910 registrations, up from 6,321 units in July 2025, representing approximately 25.1% growth. Its market share moderated slightly from 6.90% to 6.74%.
CNH Industrial India was another strong performer during July. Registrations increased from 3,932 units last year to 5,417 units, resulting in 37.8% YoY growth. The company's market share consequently improved from 4.29% to 4.62%.
Tractor Market Expands by Nearly 26,000 Units
The scale of the industry's July performance is particularly noteworthy. India's tractor registrations increased by 25,745 units year-on-year, from 91,604 units in July 2025 to 1,17,349 units in July 2026.
The 28.1% YoY expansion was also broad-based, with every major tractor OEM listed individually by FADA recording double-digit growth. TAFE, Escorts Kubota and CNH Industrial grew substantially faster than the overall market, while Mahindra and Swaraj strengthened their already commanding position.

Outlook
The July numbers indicate a healthy start to the second half of 2026 for India's tractor industry. More importantly, growth has not been concentrated around one manufacturer, with registrations increasing substantially across Mahindra, Swaraj, International Tractors, TAFE, Escorts Kubota, John Deere, Eicher and CNH Industrial.
With the rural economy, agricultural activity and festive demand remaining important factors over the coming months, the industry will be watching whether this double-digit momentum can be sustained through the upcoming festive period.
