Market Share Analysis

The May 2026 data clearly shows a more concentrated market. The top five OEMs together accounted for nearly 76% of total wheeled construction equipment retail sales.

JCB alone contributed almost 45% of the market, while ACE, Escorts Kubota and Ajax formed the next major cluster. The decline in the Others category indicates that smaller OEMs lost ground more sharply than established brands.

Auto Punditz Take

May 2026 was a weak month for wheeled construction equipment retail sales, with the segment declining by nearly 18% YoY. However, the data also shows a clear shift towards stronger and better-established OEMs.

JCB remained the clear market leader, while Escorts Kubota and Bull Machines stood out for registering positive YoY growth. On the other hand, Tata Hitachi, Liugong, Caterpillar and Case New Holland saw notable declines.

The segment’s performance in the coming months will depend on infrastructure activity, road construction momentum, rural demand, government project execution and equipment financing conditions. For now, May 2026 indicates a market where volumes softened, but leadership positions became even stronger.
