JSW MG Motor India registered its highest-ever monthly wholesale volume in July 2026, dispatching 8,158 vehicles and recording a strong 22% year-on-year growth. New energy vehicles contributed more than 80% of the company’s total sales during the month.
JSW MG Motor India continued its strong sales momentum in July 2026, posting its best-ever monthly wholesale performance. The automaker dispatched 8,158 vehicles to dealerships during the month, representing an increase of 22% compared with July 2025.
The latest performance also surpassed the previous record established in June 2026, when the company reported wholesales of 7,568 units. This translates into a month-on-month growth of nearly 8%, indicating sustained demand across JSW MG Motor India’s passenger vehicle portfolio.
JSW MG Motor India July 2026 Sales
Period | Wholesale Sales | Growth |
July 2026 | 8,158 units | 22% YoY |
June 2026 | 7,568 units | Nearly 8% MoM |
New Energy Vehicles Account for Over 80% of Sales
The most significant highlight of JSW MG Motor India’s July performance was the increasing contribution of its new energy vehicle portfolio. Electric and hybrid vehicles accounted for more than 80% of the company’s overall wholesale volume during the month. This suggests that over 6,500 of the vehicles dispatched by the automaker in July were powered by new energy technologies.
The company’s new energy vehicle portfolio also recorded its highest-ever monthly wholesale volume in July. The achievement underlines JSW MG Motor India’s transition from being a conventional passenger vehicle manufacturer to becoming one of the country’s most EV-focused automotive brands.
The automaker currently offers electric models across multiple segments, including the MG Comet EV, MG Windsor EV, MG ZS EV, MG Cyberster and the premium MG M9 electric MPV.
Among these, the MG Windsor EV has emerged as a major volume driver. The crossover-style electric vehicle has helped MG expand its presence beyond the early-adopter EV market and attract customers looking for a practical family car with comparatively low running costs.
Third Consecutive Month of Record Wholesales
July 2026 marked the third consecutive month in which JSW MG Motor India achieved record wholesale sales, reflecting a sustained improvement rather than a one-off volume increase. In June 2026, the company had reported its then-highest monthly wholesales of 7,568 units, registering 30% year-on-year growth. Electric vehicles accounted for more than 75% of the total volumes during that month.
By July, the new energy vehicle contribution had increased to more than 80%, demonstrating the rapidly changing composition of the company’s sales. JSW MG Motor India had also reported a 66% growth in its electric vehicle sales during FY2025-26, reaching 62,591 units. The MG Windsor played an important role in this expansion, while the company’s electric vehicles also gained traction outside the largest metropolitan markets.
EV-Led Strategy Begins to Deliver Scale
The July numbers reinforce JSW MG Motor India’s distinctive positioning in the Indian passenger vehicle market.
While most mainstream manufacturers continue to derive the majority of their volumes from petrol, diesel or CNG vehicles, MG’s sales mix is now heavily tilted towards electric and electrified models.
The company has indicated that new energy vehicles could eventually contribute as much as 80% of its overall sales. The July performance suggests that this target has already been achieved at the monthly wholesale level, although the contribution may continue to vary depending on production, dispatch schedules and new product launches.
JSW MG Motor India is also preparing to expand its new energy strategy through the recently introduced MG ADAPT modular platform. The architecture has been designed to support battery-electric, hybrid, plug-in hybrid and range-extender powertrains, giving the company greater flexibility while developing future products for India.
What the July Sales Performance Means
JSW MG Motor India remains considerably smaller in overall volume than India’s largest passenger vehicle manufacturers. However, its record July performance shows that a focused EV portfolio can generate meaningful scale in the domestic market.
The company has benefited from having electric vehicles at different price points, ranging from the compact Comet EV to the Windsor EV and premium models such as the M9 and Cyberster.
The Windsor EV, in particular, appears to have helped MG move beyond niche EV volumes. Its combination of spacious interiors, crossover styling and the Battery-as-a-Service ownership programme has allowed the company to offer a lower headline acquisition price while separating part of the battery cost from the vehicle’s purchase price.
At the same time, the continued presence of internal-combustion models such as the Astor, Hector, Gloster and Majestor gives the brand exposure to buyers who are not yet ready to transition to an electrified vehicle.
Outlook
With 8,158 wholesale units in July 2026, JSW MG Motor India has set a new monthly sales benchmark. More importantly, the contribution of new energy vehicles exceeding 80% indicates that electric mobility is now at the centre of the company’s volume growth.
Sustaining this momentum will depend on consistent production, wider charging access, competitive pricing and the company’s ability to expand beyond the Windsor-led growth phase.
Nevertheless, three consecutive months of record wholesales, combined with the rising contribution of electrified vehicles, suggest that JSW MG Motor India’s new energy strategy is beginning to deliver both growth and scale in the Indian passenger vehicle market.
