Mahindra is preparing three all-new passenger vehicle models, alongside a major model refresh and a new light commercial vehicle, as it expands production capacity to support its next phase of growth.

Mahindra & Mahindra has confirmed an ambitious product launch programme for the first half of 2027, with five major launches planned by June 2027. The upcoming portfolio is expected to include three entirely new passenger vehicles — the production-spec Mahindra Vision S, the BE 07 electric SUV and the Scorpio Lifestyler pickup truck. Additionally, Mahindra will introduce a significant update to an existing model and an all-new light commercial vehicle (LCV), further strengthening its presence across passenger and commercial vehicle segments.

The announcement was made during Mahindra's Q2 FY2027 results interaction on November 5, 2026. Rajesh Jejurikar, Executive Director and CEO of the Auto and Farm Sectors at Mahindra, outlined the company's upcoming launches as part of its continued investment in product development and manufacturing capacity.

The new products arrive at an important time for Mahindra, which has been strengthening its SUV portfolio, expanding its electric vehicle business and investing in additional manufacturing capacity.

1. Mahindra Vision S – New Compact SUV on NU_IQ Platform

The production version of the Mahindra Vision S concept is expected to be among the most important additions to the company's SUV portfolio in 2027. First showcased in August 2025, the Vision S represents Mahindra's next-generation compact SUV design philosophy, combining rugged styling with modern features and a new vehicle architecture.

The upcoming model is expected to become the first production vehicle based on Mahindra's NU_IQ platform, which has been engineered to accommodate multiple powertrain technologies, including petrol, diesel, hybrid and electric configurations. Test vehicles spotted on Indian roads suggest that the production SUV will retain several distinctive characteristics of the concept, including its upright proportions and boxy design.

Expected highlights include a tailgate-mounted spare wheel, short overhangs, flush door handles, panoramic sunroof and modern digital infotainment features. The Vision S-based SUV is reportedly being developed for the sub-4-metre segment and could occupy a more premium position than the XUV 3XO in Mahindra's portfolio. However, the final production name, engine options, equipment and pricing have not been announced.

2. Mahindra BE 07 – Expanding the Born Electric Portfolio

Mahindra's next electric SUV is widely expected to be the BE 07, which would expand the company's Born Electric portfolio beyond the existing BE 6. The upcoming electric SUV is expected to use the dedicated INGLO electric vehicle architecture, already deployed across Mahindra's new-generation electric SUV range.

Positioned above the BE 6, the BE 07 could offer a more spacious and practical alternative while retaining the brand's futuristic design approach. The production model may feature a triple-screen dashboard, panoramic glass roof with illuminated elements, ambient lighting, integrated dashcam and Level 2 advanced driver assistance systems.

Battery options could include 59kWh and 79kWh packs, similar to those offered on the BE 6. However, the battery specifications, driving range and prices remain unconfirmed.

The model is expected to compete with electric SUVs such as the Tata Harrier EV, VinFast VF7 and BYD Atto 3.

3. Mahindra Scorpio Lifestyler – A New Challenger in the Pickup Segment

Mahindra is also preparing to enter the lifestyle pickup truck segment with the Scorpio Lifestyler, a model derived from the Global Pik Up concept originally showcased in 2023. The production-oriented Lifestyler was unveiled in August 2026 and shares its body-on-frame architecture with the Scorpio N.

Unlike conventional commercial pickups, the Scorpio Lifestyler is expected to target customers interested in recreational driving, outdoor activities and vehicles that combine everyday usability with off-road capability. Potential powertrain options include Mahindra's 2.2-litre diesel engine producing up to 175hp and its 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine producing up to 203hp, based on existing Scorpio N configurations. Six-speed manual and automatic transmissions could be offered, while a four-wheel-drive option is also expected.

Mahindra has indicated that prices will begin below ₹19.79 lakh, ex-showroom, although final variant-wise pricing is awaited. The launch is expected in the first half of 2027, with reports suggesting April as a possible target. The Scorpio Lifestyler will compete with established lifestyle pickups, including the Toyota Hilux and Isuzu D-Max V-Cross.

4. Two Additional Launches: Model Refresh and New LCV

Beyond the three new passenger vehicles, Mahindra has confirmed two additional launches scheduled before the end of June 2027.

  • The first will be a significant refresh of an existing model. Mahindra has not identified the vehicle, leaving open the possibility of an updated SUV or another product in its existing lineup.

  • The second will be an all-new light commercial vehicle, reinforcing the manufacturer's commitment to the goods transportation and commercial mobility segments.

Mahindra has a substantial presence in the Indian LCV market, and the addition of another commercial vehicle could help expand its offering to small businesses, logistics operators and fleet customers. Details regarding the new LCV's powertrain, payload capacity, platform and pricing have not yet been disclosed.

Mahindra to Increase SUV and EV Production Capacity by 20.6% by March 2027

Alongside the upcoming product launches, Mahindra is significantly expanding manufacturing capacity to support higher volumes and reduce production constraints.

The company's combined SUV and electric vehicle manufacturing capacity stood at approximately 68,000 units per month at the end of September 2026. By March 2027, Mahindra plans to increase this to 82,000 units per month, representing a 20.6% expansion.

The planned March 2027 capacity will comprise approximately 70,000 internal combustion engine SUVs and 12,000 electric SUVs per month. Mahindra also intends to add another 10,000 units of monthly NU_IQ platform capacity at Chakan by March 2028, taking overall SUV and EV manufacturing capacity to approximately 92,000 units per month. Additionally, Mahindra is developing a manufacturing facility in Nagpur, with capacity additions expected in two phases.

Milestone

Planned monthly capacity addition

September 2029

20,000 units

September 2030

Another 20,000 units

Total Nagpur addition

40,000 units

The Nagpur expansion is part of Mahindra's longer-term manufacturing roadmap and should not be interpreted as additional capacity specifically allocated to the three upcoming passenger vehicles.

Auto Punditz Analysis – Mahindra's Next Growth Phase Goes Beyond SUVs

Mahindra's upcoming launches represent a broader strategic shift as the company prepares to expand its presence across compact SUVs, electric vehicles and lifestyle-oriented products.

Three developments stand out.

  • First, portfolio diversification. The Vision S-based SUV could strengthen Mahindra's presence in the high-volume compact SUV segment, while the Scorpio Lifestyler will create an entry into a new lifestyle pickup category. The BE 07, meanwhile, will expand the company's electric vehicle offering.

  • Second, greater platform flexibility. The introduction of the NU_IQ architecture, alongside continued expansion of the INGLO electric platform, could allow Mahindra to develop a wider portfolio while sharing engineering and manufacturing resources across multiple products.

  • Third, manufacturing capacity is becoming a critical growth driver. Mahindra's planned increase from 68,000 to 82,000 units per month by March 2027 suggests that the company is preparing for sustained demand rather than relying solely on fresh product introductions.

The company's Q2 FY2027 performance provides additional context. Mahindra reported a 24.3% SUV revenue market share and a 30.1% electric SUV revenue market share during the quarter. These figures indicate its competitive position in terms of revenue, although they should not be confused with unit-volume market share.

Nevertheless, new product launches bring their own challenges. Mahindra must manage production ramp-ups, maintain product quality, establish competitive pricing and ensure that new models generate incremental demand rather than simply shifting customers from existing vehicles.

The Vision S could have the broadest potential addressable market of the three passenger vehicles, given the size of India's compact SUV segment. The BE 07 may be important for expanding Mahindra's premium EV customer base, while the Scorpio Lifestyler could help establish the brand in a more specialised segment.

For Mahindra, 2027 could mark the beginning of another significant expansion cycle, supported by new vehicle architectures, broader product coverage and higher manufacturing capacity. The next six to eight months will be important in determining how successfully the company translates its product pipeline into sustainable growth.

Conclusion

Mahindra's confirmation of five major launches by June 2027 highlights its intention to maintain momentum in India's competitive automobile market. With three new passenger vehicles expected, a major refresh and a new commercial vehicle, the manufacturer is preparing to address a wider range of customers while investing in manufacturing infrastructure.

The upcoming Vision S, BE 07 and Scorpio Lifestyler are expected to play distinct roles in this strategy. While the final specifications, launch dates and pricing remain subject to official announcements, the product roadmap signals Mahindra's continued ambition to strengthen its position in India's passenger vehicle industry.
