Maruti Suzuki Sales Rise 34% in July 2026 as Domestic Volumes Cross 2 Lakh Units

Maruti Suzuki India reported total sales of 2,41,421 units in July 2026, registering a strong 33.7% year-on-year growth. Domestic sales, including passenger vehicles and light commercial vehicles, crossed the two-lakh-unit milestone for the first time.

Maruti Suzuki India continued its strong growth momentum in July 2026, supported by a sharp increase in domestic passenger vehicle demand across entry-level cars, compact models and utility vehicles.

The country’s largest carmaker recorded total sales of 2,41,421 units during the month, compared with 1,80,526 units in July 2025, representing a growth of approximately 34% year-on-year.

Domestic sales of passenger vehicles and light commercial vehicles reached an all-time high of 2,00,123 units, while supplies to other original equipment manufacturers stood at 11,242 units. Including OEM supplies, Maruti Suzuki’s overall domestic volume increased to 2,11,365 units, up from 1,48,781 units in the corresponding month last year.

Exports, however, declined marginally to 30,056 units, compared with 31,745 units in July 2025.

Passenger Vehicle Sales Jump 42%

Maruti Suzuki’s domestic passenger vehicle sales increased by approximately 42.4% year-on-year, rising from 1,37,776 units in July 2025 to 1,96,203 units in July 2026.

The strong increase indicates a broad-based recovery in demand, with nearly all major vehicle categories reporting double-digit growth.

Compact and Mid-size Cars Remain the Biggest Contributors

The compact and mid-size passenger car segment continued to account for the largest share of Maruti Suzuki’s domestic volumes. The category, which includes models such as the Baleno, Swift, Dzire, WagonR, Celerio, Ignis and Ciaz, recorded sales of 90,822 units during July 2026. This represents an increase of approximately 38% over the 65,840 units sold in July 2025. The performance highlights the continued importance of hatchbacks and compact sedans to Maruti Suzuki, even as utility vehicles account for an increasingly larger share of the Indian passenger vehicle market.

Utility Vehicle Sales Increase Nearly 50%

Maruti Suzuki’s utility vehicle portfolio registered one of the strongest growth rates during the month. The company sold 78,851 utility vehicles in July 2026, compared with 52,773 units during the same month last year, translating into a year-on-year increase of approximately 49.4%.

Entry-Level Car Sales Almost Double

Sales of Maruti Suzuki’s mini-segment models, comprising the Alto and S-Presso, increased sharply to 12,634 units in July 2026. The segment had recorded sales of 6,822 units during July 2025, resulting in growth of more than 85% year-on-year.

The recovery in entry-level car sales is particularly significant for the Indian passenger vehicle market, where rising vehicle prices, financing costs and changing consumer preferences had previously affected demand for affordable small cars.

Eeco and Super Carry Report Strong Growth

Maruti Suzuki’s Eeco van recorded sales of 13,896 units during the month, compared with 12,341 units in July 2025. This represented an increase of approximately 12.6%.

The company’s light commercial vehicle, the Super Carry, registered sales of 3,920 units, up from 2,794 units during the corresponding period last year. Super Carry volumes consequently increased by more than 40% year-on-year, supported by demand from small businesses and last-mile logistics operators.

OEM Supplies Increase 37%

Maruti Suzuki supplied 11,242 vehicles to other manufacturers during July 2026, compared with 8,211 units a year earlier. OEM supplies increased by approximately 37%, providing an additional contribution to the company’s domestic dispatch volumes.

Maruti Suzuki currently manufactures and supplies select vehicles to Toyota under the global partnership between Suzuki and Toyota.

Exports Decline Marginally

While domestic volumes registered strong growth, Maruti Suzuki’s exports declined by approximately 5.3% year-on-year. The company exported 30,056 vehicles during July 2026, compared with 31,745 units in July 2025. Despite the monthly decline, Maruti Suzuki remains one of India’s largest passenger vehicle exporters, supplying vehicles manufactured in India to multiple international markets.

April-July FY2026-27 Sales Cross 9.24 Lakh Units

During the first four months of FY2026-27, Maruti Suzuki recorded total sales of 9,24,145 units, compared with 7,08,387 units during the corresponding period of the previous financial year. This represents cumulative growth of approximately 30.5%.

Domestic passenger vehicle sales during April-July FY2026-27 stood at 7,21,431 units, while exports reached 1,54,792 units.

Auto Punditz Analysis

Maruti Suzuki’s July performance highlights the breadth of its recovery. Growth was not restricted to SUVs or premium models, with mini cars, compact vehicles, vans and commercial vehicles all reporting higher volumes.

Utility vehicles remained the fastest-growing high-volume category, suggesting that models such as the Brezza, Ertiga, Fronx and Grand Vitara are helping the manufacturer capture a larger share of India’s SUV-led passenger vehicle market.

At the same time, the sharp revival in the Alto and S-Presso category is an encouraging development for the entry-level segment. If this demand continues, small cars could once again become a meaningful contributor to overall industry growth.

With cumulative FY2026-27 sales already exceeding 9.24 lakh units, Maruti Suzuki appears well positioned to maintain its leadership in the Indian passenger vehicle market. However, export performance and the sustainability of the current domestic demand recovery will remain important indicators to watch over the coming months.
